Anwir Thomas, the Starchild Character in Perillel | World Anvil

Anwir Thomas, the Starchild

"He asks not for your labor, but for your faith..."

Early Life

Anwir Thomas was born in early March, 2324; his mother died during labor. His father, William, was a dock worker in Murkwood and struggled to make ends meet. Young Anwir grew up under the care of his aunt, Mira, and at the age of three he developed a light sensitivity that rendered him effectively blind. By the age of five, his sensitivity became manageable with special lenses that filtered the vast majority of light. He was initially educated at public school but because of his disability and small size, he was often the subject of brutal bullying.
"...in his plan. And in this faith, the labor will feel as an ease..."

Enlightenment

In one particular moment of cruelty, local children drug Anwir away from the school, removing his lens, and forced him to stare into the star Perillis. He was rendered completely blind and his father pulled him from school. William would stay up late after work to ensure Anwir received an education. One night, Anwir asked his father to stay home the following day. William tried to explain they could not afford for him to miss a day, but Anwir insisted. Reluctant, but worried for his son, William stayed home and slept in the next morning. That day, at the dock where William worked, a ship that he was scheduled to load suffered a accidental warp killing several members of the crew and dock workers. William asked Anwir how he had known there would be an accident to which Anwir replied, "the man in Perillis told me".
"...and in the labor, I will provide all you need."   -Perillis' Gospel

The Star-Gazers

Anwir told his father that no matter where he was, he could see a man in the star watching him; he could point to Perillis while inside buildings and after being disorientated. William, in disbelief, asked his sister to help him decide what to do. She devised a plan to determine the legitimacy of the "man in the star"; she asked Anwir to predict the weather for the next three days in detail. Anwir presented a detailed list and the weather seemed to follow his prediction to the minute. Convinced her nephew was a prophet for a god, Mira informed her neighbors and friends of Anwir's abilities. After several demonstrations of his prophecies, he had developed a small following.   Mira named the group the Star-Gazers, as a memory to how Anwir became a prophet. She asked her nephew who this god was and what they desired, and what Anwir spoke was considered Perillis' Gospel.

DANG children are cruel. Lots of intrigue in here, plenty of questions to inspect for future articles, if you choose to expand.

Hahahaha, that secret reveal!   This is really interesting. Children can be so cruel.   (Unrelated, but I find it very difficult to see what I'm typing in the comment section. Is there a way maybe to change the font to white?)
