Cavinegation

Cavination is a rare but lethal disease under avians, at least before cavinegation was discovered.
Now affected Avians come from near and far to get treated as soon as possible.


While the bone disease can't be reverted, cavinegation at least stops its development and spreading.

Treatment

While it sounds gruesome for many to get into a pool of leeches, it is currently the only known way to treat Cavination.
The treatment begins by submerging the patient in a pool of Leeches who then attach themselves to the patient.
 Those leeches are specially bred to further enhance their natural characteristics like their tongue and their distribution of activated Saxum.
Process: The leech attaches itself to the patient by biting their skin.
It then continuously excretes saliva enriched with activated Nature Saxum to sooth the wound and stop the blood from coagulating.
After they firmly attached themselves they start digging their way into the flesh of the patient, this is done by twisitng their tongue - which tip is covered in a hard shell - back and forth.
once they reached a bone they begin slightly twisting their tongue and almost drilling their way into the bone of the patient to get to their bone marrow.
In the last step the leech feeds on the marrow of their host while continuiusly dispersing activated nature Saxum through the body, this causes the bone to accelerate its healing and counteracts Cavination.

Replication

It is currently not possible to recreate this treatment artificially.

Access & Availability

Cavinegation is currently only available at the Leechpool of the Kinini Settlement but doesn't have any restriction of who is allowed to enter. They embrace everyone suffering from Cavination and other diseases and try their best to heal them.

Complexity

The complexity comes from accurately diagnosing the type and severity of Cavination the effected person, on one hand, if too little leeches are used it wont have any noticable effects, on the other hand, if too many leeches are used it can cause an overreaction and start creating tumors.

Discovery

Cavinegation was first discovered when a Kinini that suffered from Cavination fell into a Leech infested pond.
Due to the strong pain from his disease he didn't notice how the leeches dug into his skin, but what he soon noticed was the waning of his pains.
When he then noticed the leeches covering his paralyzed legs and removed them, the pain soon returned.

Direly searching for a cure he visited the pond again and put those leeches onto his skin again, noticed the same effects and began his research.
