City of Runvier

In the great water channel, just east of the legendary Sea Walls is an island with a single city. The docks are pure white stone with many births for ships of all sizes. The brilliant multi-colored city of Runvier sits well above the waterline with no walls. From the docks, a series of taverns and inns with sprawling open courtyards line the central road. Beyond that are signs in many languages directing people not towards named streets but services of all types. Want a massage and oil rub? turn left. Desire to watch a wonderous theater performance? Two blocks straight and then a right. Seeking a place to play cards or dice? Straight on over the first hill. The streets of this incredible city are safe to walk at any hour of the day or night. Everyone is safe from harassment or even unwanted conversations. The true miracle is that according to every person who has visited this city the myths and stories are true. Anything entertainment legal under the great Duianna Empire can be found in Runvier. Performers, artists, and scholars flock to this city year-round. Some stay only a short while, others become residents. What is well known about the city is:

the streets are so clean you can eat from them without fear.
the old can feel young.
the rich can walk without guards partaking in the sheer beauty of the statue-adorned paths.
the entire city is a work of art unto itself.

Runvier is a city without crime on an island without worry. And that fact has many nations slightly worried. No one has ever tried to build another settlement on the nearly two hundred miles long and fifty-mile wide island in the entire history of the world. Expeditions to camp and hunt on the island are permitted in limited quantity and reservations are made years in advance by many wealthy families.

Government

There is a police force in the city and there are staff members who appear to answer questions. Everyone is clearly dressed with a necklace denoting their title, position, and authority. However, nothing is known about who is truly in charge of the city, and no one seems to care.

Defences

Aside from a police force of about 1,000, there seem to be no defenses. However, when an incident occurs anywhere on the island guards of sufficient number arrive to calm things down and address any issues in under a minute.

Industry & Trade

Pure entertainment. Nothing is exported or created in the city. However, there are many shops where visitors may purchase a wide array of necessary items like towels, shirts, shoes, and beer mugs.
