Sivak Sutra'ber Character in Malgrave | World Anvil

Sivak Sutra'ber

Sivak Sutra'ber is a dragonborn ranger who appears in the Undesirables Campaign. She is played by I.W.
She is the cousin of Sivak Gol'rotta and sister to Sivak Praetora B'lanna.
Her Kresh name is Pip, which she prefers to go by.

Description

Appearance

Pip is a very small dragonborn, being a full foot shorter than the average dragonborn. As a silver dragonborn, her scales are quite lusterous. To other reptillian humanoids, especially other dragonborn, her skin tone under the scales appears to be pink, making her look almost a pearly color to them. Her eyes are an amethyst purple that stand out from many others as well. On her head, her horns have split to give her a small set of antlers.
Her leather armor is very fitted for ease of mobility and has a built in hood, rather than wearing a cloak. She wears several belts covered in pouches and satchels, the contents of which ranges from useful items to strange things she finds while wandering around. A pair of sais are sheathed behind her back and are the only weapons she carries besides a sling.

Personality

Pip is a strange member of the Sivak Clan. She has no real desire to follow the militaristic traditions that others revel in. Often seen as flighty, she seems to actively do things that make others uncomfortable for her own amusement. She doesn't seem to pay attention to anything anyone has to say, except her only two living blood relatives, B'lanna and Gol'rotta. Pip will often wander away from the clan without telling anyone where she is going, looking for interesting places to explore.   Despite all appearances to the contrary, she is a very dedicated and loyal person to the people she cares about. The reason it's easy to overlook is because she is considered a social pariah and few show her respect or kindness. This is in part due to her size and part because of her demeanor, seeming more fairy-like and driving suspicions to that effect every chance she gets.

Biography

Background

As a child in the kresh, Pip was born a runt. Both her egg when laid and she herself being so small, she was often kept away from all of the other children. With little attention given her way, she would often wander away from Kresh Mother I'rosha and was able to slip through barricades and fences where other children weren't. When she was four years old, she was lured into the Dreaming Grove by a will-o-wisp and disappeared for several weeks.   While following the will-o-wisp, Pip was rescued by a creature she would end up calling The Sad Man. Redirecting her to a clearing and giving her some fairies to watch over her, The Sad Man went and directed the search parties to where she was. To Pip, she had only been gone a couple hours and seemed very confused by the amount of panic people had. From that moment on though, she seemed to have been touched by the feywild. Her behavior became strange and aloof towards most members of the clan. She began talking to herself and playing with what the clan believed to be an imaginary friend. Many members of the clan have since been worried that she had been replaced by a changeling, but most ways they had to test proved she was indeed still dragonborn, just changed.   This behavior continued to get more and more pronounced as she got older, to where when B'lanna and Gol'rotta picked her up from the Kresh after the death of Rotta'ghan, who was to be their caretaker, she didn't seem to care or understand the emotions of her family. Both her size and strange demeanor allowed for her to be the only member of the Sivak Clan to skip military enlistment, giving her more time to wander the forest and disappear for days.   This eventually would lead to the Praetor, Kal'bortaash, to extend his hatred for Gol'rotta to Pip as a continued way to to make her life difficult. Bringing back the debate on whether or not Pip might be a changeling, despite evidence disproving it, he has called for her exile on multiple occassions. This was usually overturned by the Council of Elders out of guilt for failing Pip as a child. As her sister and the new Praetora, B'lanna ended up begging her sister to join the military like all other clan members to prove her loyalty. While Pip was openly disgusted by the idea, she did join to make her sister happy.   Much to the surprise of the clan and the chagrin of Praetor Kal'bortaash, Pip turned out to be an excellent ranger. While not the most prestigious position in the clan, her knowledge of the Dreaming Grove as well as the affinity she seemed to have with the Fey creatures that lived there made her an invaluable member of her unit. Despite only three years of experience as opposed to the ten every other clan member was required to have, Pip was promoted to Lieutenant and has both saved many lives and won the day several times. While some would start to warm up to her because of this, her status as both a runt and someone touched by fey magic still keeps her from developing any true connections.

The Undesirables

Pip used fairy logic to twist a conversation she had with Praetora B'lanna to gain permission to go looking for Gol'rotta to reunite her family. She arrived in Westfall and found the Undesirables headquarters to bring Gol'rotta home.

Relationships

Gol'rotta

While the two don't seem close, this couldn't be further from the truth. Neither seems to be aware of how the other really feels because both have grown up sheltering their emotions for self preservation. Pip has silently gotten back at people that have harmed Gol'rotta with things that can be waved away as fairy pranks. In truth, Pip believes it is her responsibility to make Gol'rotta happy since most of the clan accused her of making her family's life difficult.

B'lanna

Pip and B'lanna care deeply for each other, but the younger dragonborn doesn't know how to express her feelings. B'lanna tended to dote on her when they were younger, but as her duties as praetora kept her busy, Pip would avoid her so that her own bad reputation wouldn't reflect on her sister.

Arleith

Pip has mixed feelings about Arleith, mostly because of her jealousy over his relationship with Gol'rotta. They have become friends after Gol'rotta's disappearance, traveling together to the Feywild to find a Tlhogh Stone for him to present to Gol'rotta. Arleith has always respected Pip and is one of the few that has never pressed her on the events of her childhood that caused her to become Feytouched.

Wow this is a very interesting character. Her personality, her background, and being fay touch and short. It's so very well described and makes everything interesting to read

Let's have fun creating the impossible, building new worlds, and all types of possibilities. Valcin

Sounds like a fun character to portray! Well written too - you manage to fit in a lot of detail into a relatively short article without it coming across as rushed (something I find is easy to do when I try to cram in this much detail).

Thank you! She was supposed to be a minor character, mostly for a player character's backstory, but as we developed her she kind of took on a life of her own. I'm glad you appreciate the pacing of the writing. I always worry I sound rushed.
