Lor'anna Character in Malgrave | World Anvil

Lor'anna

Lor'anna is a iunc'tura who appears in the Undesirables campaign. She is played by I.W.

Description

Appearance

As an infant, when found by the Undesirables, Lor'anna was a smaller child with quite fair features, despite the shamrock green skin denoting her orcish heritage. Two small but distinct and very sharp tusks stick out of her mouth just above her lip line. She has bright amber eyes and a full head of white hair that Sivak Gol'rotta, her adoptive mother, would often tie in an upright ponytail with a bone. She would also get her ear pierced shortly after being adopted with a hoop earring bearing an enchantment to protect her.

Personality

From a young age Lor'anna has shown to be an incredibly brave and resilient individual. Her infant years saw her most connected to more intimidating, intentional or otherwise, individuals. While with the Undesirables she has shown that she either connects with someone or she doesn't. She had a tendancy to show defiance against doing things she didn't want or like and enjoys being encouraged to be scary herself. Her only true connection is with Sivak Gol'rotta, her adoptive mother and very openly dislikes all of the other Undesirables.

Biography

Background

Lor'anna was born to an elven mother and orcish father in the Laurë Tribe of wild elves. Before she was a year old, the tribe unfortunately crossed paths with Garth Darros and was slaughtered for not bending their knee to his whims. Only her half sister, Hal'leae, survived and was forced to work for her family's killer, otherwise Lor'anna's life would be in jeopardy. Behind closed doors though, Garth and one of his follows argue between selling the child or sacrificing her.   This decision never came to a conclusion as the Undesirables came to Westerlose, answering a call to end Garth's tyranny. Lor'anna was locked in a cell with several other prisoners, however, when Hal'leae showed signs of dissenting Garth's death cultists that had been following him tried to take her back to enforce their threats on the elf. Unknown to them, one of their prisoners was a skilled assassin from Silvershade, Korinnia Vlasilden. Holding bandits and cultists at bay with a shiv she had made from a broken chair, she protected Lor'anna fiercely. In response, they locked her in a cell alone with the infant and left to starve to weaken her.   The Undesirables managed to defeat Garth and freed them. Tolliver Brambleheart volunteered to take Lor'anna, relying on the speed of his trusted companion Artano. During the escape, Lor'anna was hit by a stray explosion, causing her to cry out. Many members of the Undesirables tried to console her, with the only one successful being Gol'rotta. The cries turning instantly to laughter touched the dragonborn deeply, causing her to burst through the enemy lines, clearing a path for Tolliver to get her free.   When brought to Westfall, Gol'rotta searched for suitable places or families to care for the iunc'tura. Two weeks of searching only found poor living conditions or exploitative caretakers. Having grown attached and, despite not taking an active part in the deed, bearing responsibility for Hal'leae's death, Gol'rotta decided to care for the infant herself. Leaving her in the care of Constance Shepherd whenever jobs took her elsewhere, Lor'anna would be raised for several months in the care of the mercenaries.   Realizing the importance Lor'anna held in her heart, Gol'rotta would officially adopt her and begin preparing her to be brought to the Argentum Bastian. Signing the adoption papers in her blood, she took away any chance the faeries in her home would be able to claim the dragonborn was not her guardian. She also commissioned an earring from Tiriel and Toriel Lorithane to protect her from both the elements and enemies. Gol'rotta also took her to the Grey Wolf Tribe in the Golden Sea to get the piercing done in traditional orc style, her reasoning being that Lor'anna seemed to take after her orcish side and would deserve to know where she came from when she was old enough.

Relationships

Sivak Gol'rotta

It is very clear that Lor'anna became attached to the silver dragonborn very quickly. As an infant she would often get upset whenever Gol'rotta would have to leave. Likewise, Gol'rotta rarely let her thoughts stray from Lor'anna, always planning for her future in the back of her mind while doing any other task. Gol'rotta's first moment of helplessess was when she saw her in the grasp of a drider. While it turned out to be a false alarm, she could not hide her fear.   Gol'rotta tends to spoil Lor'anna. With no experience with children, she would let Lor'anna eat whatever she wanted for several months before learning a balanced diet was necessary. She was also seen often letting Lor'anna chew on her forearm and fingers while she was teething, a habit that turned somewhat hazardous to those not protected by scales covering their bodies.

Constance Shepherd

While Constance will often show frustration with the difficulty she had watching over Lor'anna as an infant, she shows deep care for her. Even going so far as to hurt her chances of becoming a knight in the Order of the Silver Lance by starting a fight with a group of people harassing Nuha Sisavi and Lor'anna when the three of them went to the markets. Lor'anna often treats Constance with indifference, mostly because the young warrior follows rules set for her by her dragonborn associate. However, Lor'anna will always go to Constance first when Gol'rotta is not around.

Character Information

Legacy

As an adopted child, she is still considered the first born of Sivak Gol'rotta's family. While her rights are limited due to race difference, she is still one to carry on her legacy.
Lor'anna is the only surviving member of the Laurë Tribe, and while their culture is lost, she is still welcomed by most other tribes of wild elves and orcs in the Golden Sea.
