House of pits
Another one? These turists sure are busy tonight. Throw him in number three.
The House of Pits is almost as famous as the village it recides in, thanks to the amount of people having been thrown into it throughout the years.
Because there are so many who need to be detained the punishments are usually handed out the morning after according to a predetermined list of crimes, with very little in terms of reducing the sentencing since most were too drunk to remember what happened.
Purpose / Function
In a settlement as rowdy as Rumble you need a place to put people who step over the line, and the house of pits is perfect.
Alterations
Initially the building was only there to cover the pits with a roof, but since the pits have been made more durable, by using stone walls, grates covering the pits have been added and the entire structure has been altered in order to improve its functionality.
These improvements include a room where people can be interrogated, a storage room for all maner of documents relating to crime in the village and a hearing room where a jury can decide the fates of those who go way too far.
Architecture
The building is of a timber construction over a stone celler into which multiple pits have been dug and lined with stone and covered with solid iron grates.
The timber construction has also been used for the interior walls as a way to keep everything very sturdy.
History
The pits were initially an improvised way of keeping people detained until they could be dealt with, but as the town expanded, so did the house.
Tourism
It is said that everyone who visits Rumble should also visit the House of Pits, as that is a sure way of telling you were having fun, although the consequenses might not make it worth it for some.
