Dragonbloods Species in Corive | World Anvil

Dragonbloods

Basic Information

Anatomy

Humanoid, with reptilian features and a reptilian skull. Some may have hair, others may have feathers.
The young appear to be elf-blooded humans (humans with much less elven ancestry than the Half-Elves) with pointed ears and slightly narrowed faces.

Biological Traits

They tended to live to be several centuries, if left to live naturally. Unfortunately, their ties to Dragons have resulted in them being hunted down and slaughtered in the current era.
Typically, a Dragonborn ranged from 6 feet to 7 feet in height, and weighs between 200-260 pounds. Their scales vary based on what kind of Dragonborn they are, and bloodlines determine if they have hair, whiskers, feathers, webbings, or scales alone.

Genetics and Reproduction

Born, not hatched, after a seven month gestation period.

Growth Rate & Stages

They are usually born of more mortal-appearing form, and as they age, they take on more dragon-like features. Their mortal-like skin tone is directly related to the light-dark hue of their scales

Biological Cycle

By age 16, they start to develop patches of scales, though by age 20, those patches are too large to hide and from 20-25 their bodies begin to shift and mold itself into a dragonic form.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Dragonborn, like the Dragonkin, tend to be of stronger magical inclinations. They are like their Dragon ancestors in regards to how many of them wind up as spellcasters.

Civilization and Culture

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Common, Draconic, and whatever language they grew up speaking.

Common Dress Code

Long sleeves, high collars, the Dragonborn mostly dress in full-covering garments out of habit from covering up their scales when younger.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Almost everything of their original culture has been lost, resulting in the individuals scattered across Soplas to formulate their own based on the culture they grew up with, nd adapting those to survival.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Generally speaking, to earn the trust of a Dragonborn is to be awarded with high esteem, as Dragonborn are, as often repeated, an extremely endangered people. There is no custom or tradition that has survived the closing of the First Age intact for them, but the Kobold will try to help any Dragonborn they find, for they are kinfolk.

Common Taboos

Dragonborn themselves are a taboo, seen as the children of Dragons who sought to usurp the gods of the world.

History

Summary - They are the children of beings who were considered gods. Arrogance, indignity, and ambition are comman traits while being persecuted.

Common Myths and Legends

They are said to be the mortal children of Dragons, but most of their legends they had for themselves have been long lost.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Most everyone else has the high potential for being an enemy, so to earn the trust amd respect of a Dragonborn is a big deal to the individual Dragomborn.

That's definitely an interesting combination from genetics. I'd love to see an image of them :) Would be interesting.

Oh wow, I'd forgotten a lot of what I had written here - some things need to be updated. Images will take some time as I have a preference to personally draw the artwork. I'm glad you enjoyed this article - it was one of my first WorldEmber articles back when I first took part in the event back in 2018.
