Prompt 5: Crystal Blood
Crystal Blood is a condition gained from anyone who ingests to much Zidian sap. The most common way of this is taking medicine used to recover essence a little too much. Another way is through taking Zidsa Syrum which allows anyone without natural magic to gain access to magic. This is a very dangerous way to cast spells but does allow even a human to cast spells as powerful as Presari's and Deminor.
Sadly Crystal Blood is painful as crystals form within the afflicted blood. Too much and the crystals will tear through your flesh. Though given enough time you can recover from it. Sadly those who went to such levels to use such a dangerous substance will post likely use it again.
Transmission & Vectors
By injecting themselves with diluted zidian sap known as the Zidsa Syrum. They risk gaining Crystal Blood if to much of the sap builds up that it begins to crystalize within someone's veins.
Causes
When someone who has taken Zidsa draws on to much essence they may cause the crystalization effect.
Symptoms
It starts with feeling intense pain from inside one's veins. This will increase before a crystal shard tears through your skin and takes form outside of it. Continued growth will cause the crystals to overtake one's skin and may cause a deading of organic material.
Treatment
Taking herbs or medicine that is known to dilute zidian sap can help if it hasn't progressed to far. Using red iron supplements can also breakdown the crystals in more developed stages.
Affected Groups
It affects all who foolishly ingest or inject Zidian sap into their blood.
Hosts & Carriers
Zidian trees carry the substance that causes crystal blood. Though only through ingestion can someone gain it.
Cultural Reception
Those who gain crystal blood can be treated well or ostracized based on the reason of their exposure. Amongst natural magic users, it's seen as a side effect of drinking essence potions. Amongst humans, it is seen as something dangerous only gained by those who have become addicted to using magic. Seeing as many of these humans are criminals doesn't help the image of the crystal blooded.
