devamped

'devamp' is the short name for 'deforming vampiric essence'.
It is a strong and potent essence used by the upperclass Vampires Its use case is to supress the will to drink blood. (for a few hours 8+ / deviation -2 to +4 ) This allows them to be under humans almost undetected. (with the exception of alchemists).
However, if they use it too long, they will become addicted and the urge returns faster. Every time they use it for an extended period there are risks to body degrade.
Fully degraded vampires are turned in to a zombie, with an long lifespan.

Transmission & Vectors

A liquid, transparent and bittersweet in a 20 cc small vial, created by Alchemists, with specific ingredients and in a specific order. It is relative easy to make but has some components like holy water that will be difficult for vampires to get.

To use it: a vampire needs to drink the vial in one go and it needs to be consumed orally.
After opening the vial the user has up to 10 seconds to consume the liquid

after that the air will change the composition to something else. When the air touches it, the liquid becomes colorised and when it is toatlly black it is usesless. A side effect is the horrible smell that the fluid begins to emit.

also important: after one vial it takes about 6 hours to recover. (or it will be 'continuesly use)
Vials & Recovery

after 2 vials 8 hours rest needed (or it will be similar to 'continuesly use)
after 3 vials it will be 16 hours
after 4 vials it will be 64 hours
after 5 vials it will be one week
more then 5 vials is unknown...

Causes

Drinking the liquid causes the condition.

Symptoms

the intended symptoms are the ability to walk in sunlight, surpress the urge to drink blood for a period of time (6-9 hours.)
If duration is longer the vampire becomes weaker and becomes tired. (like humans)
and when continued after that the flesh decay starts visibly.

Treatment

when the condition is in effect for the limited dose (one vial) there is no need for treatment. if the condition is used a second time, the vampire becomes tired and less coordinated. The magic wanes and theeffects of beauty begin to fail.

Prognosis

Drinking multiple doses of the essence is not advised as the condition after the allotted time becomes fatal and its effects irreversible. When it happens the vampire will inevitably become a zombie.

Prevention

there is no protection in the time after, when the doses are taken.

History

over 1000 years ago in the early middle ages when humans gained more power, the vampire community needed ways to keep in business. The todo vampier leader and the formulae was created.

Cultural Reception

vampires are divided over the use of potions and liquids, ointments and magic to walk in the sun or surpress the urges to feed.
There are groups who find it degrading and humiliating and the opposite groups who are are trying to live with humans in some form of harmony.
