Fort Arvala
Purpose / Function
Fort Arvala serves as the base foor the Shining Knights of Sobeyr, followers of the Platinum Knight under the patronage of the Living God Sobeyr. It includes a temple to the Platinum Knight, barracks, stables, blacksmith, armorer, weaponsmith, bower, fletcher, shield maker, and lance maker.
History
Fort Arvala has not always been a bastion of nobility, early in Rhyderia's history the fort was created as a base for patrols to rest while protecting the roads nearby. At this point, it was little more than a wooden wall with a few buildings, which over time became a loose-fitting stone wall. Shortly after the Cataclysm, the fort was abandoned and bandits moved in using it as a stronghold for their raiding activities.
Fort Arvala was also the site for necromantic rituals by the Cult of Raxanis during the same time as the bandits occupied it, a series of long-forgotten hidden tunnels let the cultists in without alerting the bandits and they performed their rituals in a hidden chamber. This continued until the bandits were slain during a Blood Moon when ethereal creatures broke through the barrier between planes with the aid of the cult's rituals. With the aid of Heldamari Drazgor, a group of adventurers managed to find the secret chamber and put a stop to the rituals.
As Rhyderia began to heal the Shining Knights of Sobeyr claimed the corrupted fort and through the power of Sobeyr and the Platinum Knight purified the fort and made it into a place of faith for the Platinum Knight and from there the followers of the Platinum Knight spread out to help restore Rhyderia.
Tourism
Many people travel to Fort Arvala mostly pilgrims seeking to pray to the Platinum Knight in one of the most important sites to the faith. Merchants and travelers will often make camp outside the walls of the fort feeling it the safest place to rest for the night.
