The corpse of Tiamaat

This gigantic continent, roughly a quarter the size of the mainland of Y Bydd, was formed after the great heavenly battle at the end of the second age (The slaying of Tiamaat). Appearing as a gigantic skull, covered by millenia of dirt, grime, and plants, this newly formed land is only now beginning to be explored, with the advent of the age of the Gnomish Airships. A full two week journey from even the closest parts of the mainland, the arduous journey is worth it for many for the rare resources that can be found on the continent, the many monsters that still inhabit the land, and the wealth of magic that can be felt brimming in the air.
When this land formed, or more accuratly, fell out of the sky, an enourmous wave was formed, followed by the entire planet ringing like a bell. These were the causes of the great extinction of this event, killing almost all creatures, though many survived either through magical or divine intervention.

Ecosystem

Still relativly fresh land, the area is brimming with magical monsters released from the corpse, and the magical plants that were able to quickly spread and dominate this magic rich contient.

Ecosystem Cycles

The magical energies follow a day on day off cycle, where the magic available roughly quarters every 26 hours before returning to full over the next 26 hours. . This is superstitiously refered to as the heartbeat of the still alive Tiamaat, but likely has a far more simple explanation.
