Ryga - Symran Philosophy

Ryga is a philosophy found in the Symran Prefecture, located in the Stib heliosphere. This school of thought believes that all people are born equal, regardless of status, wealth, or parentage, and that each person must prove themselves worthy of privileges or opportunities through meritorious actions and speech. This has transformed Symran Prefecture into a hyper-meritocracy undergirded by a bespoke digital ledger system called Arisan, which allows Symran adherents to track their and others’ merit totals, achievements, and past actions.

Within Ryga, merit can be attained by attending certified courses on civics or philosophy or becoming the pupil of an accredited, meritorious individual who serves as a role model and mentor. However, most merit is accumulated through written or audio testimonials from others, who take note of another person’s actions and submit their endorsement through the Arisan system. Endorsements and the system as a whole are monitored by a legion of technocrats schooled in the subtle and sometimes labyrinthine codes that comprise Symran ethics.
