Hornweave

Hornweave is a rare crafting material that can only be obtained from a willing unicorn. Each unicorn's horn is comprised of hornweave, which is what grants them the ability to alter its shape at will. When a unicorn dies or if the horn is cut off by force, the hornweave hardens into a thick chitin, greatly reducing its potential uses. As hornweave can only be given out by a unicorn, those lucky enough to receive a bundle have been able to collect considerable fortunes by selling it.
Beyond its rarity, the material is highly sought after due to its arcane properties. Alchemically, hornweave can be used to strengthen and enhance a variety of potions and tinctures. When used in certain recipes, it can even allow for temporary effects to become permanent. Its most common alchemical use is in the creation of disease cures, as even a single strand of hornweave in a disease cure is enough to grant the individual who drinks the potion total immunity to the disease cured. Hornweave is also quite magically absorbant, allowing it to increase the effectiveness of enchantments placed on any items made with hornweave. Hornweave bracelets and collars are common arcane accessories, and are often used for spell storing enchantments.
