Little Oaks

It may not be much, but it is a start. This part of the high plains can be terraced and the soil seems healthy. We also have enough water to grow a lot of crops. While there are limits to the natural resources at hand, it will be a while before we run into those. The main limitation now is good lumber for creating a safe haven.   The only mistake was a majority vote for the name.
— Sevak of Tall Oaks
The first farming area set up in the valley, this place is currently an experiment on what plant cultivation is possible. With the presence of terror birds, and the possible risk of wolves, safety is a must. As such, the current bottleneck is lumber to create buildings and proper defenses from, due to nearby trees being too small and crooked to use.

Wildlife of all sorts was causing trouble, which is where the scouts came in. A group of feathered rats have been convinced to not play too many pranks and not disturb the livestock, while nearby predators have been hunted down. A nearby terror shrike appears to play nice, so to speak.

Buildings

Stable
The first proper building, yet not entirely completed due to lack of supplies. At night, it holds the horses and other livestock, while the farmers sleep in tents. The doorways are blocked with tent cloth to prevent entry at night.
Feathered Rat Coop
Set up with branches, this small tent set up a tree provides safe shelter for the feathered rats. By nesting nearby instead of in the stable, they do not spook the horses and other livestock at night.
