The Plague - War of Glaem

Woe to the regrettably-named Thaumaturge Cordyceps Hockingham-Savage, scion of two great lines of biomancy, yet whose' only great skill was in altering size. And woe to the Grey City of Glaem. Glaem, stricken with the Annihilating Phage, thought to be spread by one of Yggsrathaals altered Prophets of Nothing, (only a facsimile of man, but faceless void beneath). Sad was Glaems suffering and long its slow doom, its choking warrens, silent streets, and battened doors, with the locked and shuttered towers of the Tolerance staring down on all.   Until was found within the Cities bounds, a Thaumaturge, one of rare intellectual descent, for the Wizards teachers were all experts in Biomancy.   But Hockingham-Savage refused any attempt on the Grey Phage, until, forced themselves by fear and despair, the Lottery Lords of that City (for so they are governed), put him to the Question.   Hockingham-Savage relented, and in one great ritual, he expelled the Phage from everybody in Glaem, instantly healing every person in the city.   And, unfortunately, growing the Phage physically by several hundred (perhaps thousands?) sizes.   The microbia of the disease, now unable to infect anyone, were instead vile globular monsters that rolled through the town crushing walls and enveloping pets.   So the Plague-War of Glaem began.   Cordyceps Hockingham-Savage was held in durance vile for the period of the war and nearly executed several times. Yet, ultimately, once the illness was defeated and the war at an end, the Lottery Lords of Glaem let him pass without either censure and reward.   As bad as fighting giant evil bacteria in the city streets with artillery and cavalry charges against germs and massed phalanxes against gargantuan lipid layers had been, most of the people of Gleam agreed that all in all, things had turned out for the best. They would rather wrestle gigagerms in the streets, better to blow them up with mines than suffer such infections within their hearts and homes.
