Selenium
Selenium is a rare elemental substance often found in small quantities within sulfur rich mineral deposits and volcanic regions. In its refined form it appears as a dark, glassy material that can shift between brittle crystalline and dull metallic states depending on how it is prepared. Alchemists value selenium for its unusual response to light, as certain forms of the element change their behavior when exposed to bright illumination or magical radiance.
