Inspiration

“Inspiration is rarely kind. It arrives as ruin, and asks what you’ll build from the rubble.”
— Professor Emeritus Halbrun Wex, Letters to a Younger Arcanist

One of the things I love is finding out about the world of human creativity is what inspires the people who make the things that inspire me. It's also just as fascinating to learn what inspirations were at the core of a specific body of work. It's something I don't think is done as much as it ought to be. Below you'll find a catalogue of all the things that have somehow inspired me or that have influenced or otherwise set the tone for stories and games in Unknown Shores.

Each entry will include a direct link to the most recent incarnation of whatever it is so that you can learn more about it, experience it for yourself and let it inform your own journey, creative or otherwise. What I won't do is comment on each one. Mostly because none of us have that kind of time. So I'll leave you with this.

If I put it here, I did not do it lightly.

“The mind is a haunted house. Creation is simply learning to live with the ghosts.”
