Indium
Indium is a soft, silvery metallic element known for its unusual malleability and relatively low melting point. When refined it can be easily shaped or pressed, and it becomes liquid at temperatures far lower than most metals. Indium is typically found only in small quantities within ores that also contain zinc and other metals, which makes it somewhat rare and difficult to extract in large amounts. The metal has a bright surface and remains stable in air, resisting corrosion better than many common metals.
In arcane craftsmanship indium is valued for its ability to form precise seals and delicate connections within complex devices. Because it is soft and able to bond easily with other metals, artificers sometimes use thin layers of indium to join enchanted components or create airtight and watertight seals in arcane apparatus. Some scholars also incorporate indium into magical lenses, crystal housings, or delicate measuring instruments where flexibility and stability are required. Although it is rarely used for structural purposes, indium has earned a reputation among artificers as a useful metal for fine work that demands precision and careful control of magical energies.
