Actinium
Actinium is an exceptionally rare and potent metallic element discovered within certain ancient radioactive ores deep beneath the earth. When refined it appears as a pale, silvery metal that faintly glows with a soft blue light, a sign of the steady energy it releases over time. Arcane scholars prize actinium for this powerful internal energy, which can be harnessed to sustain long lasting magical reactions or fuel experimental arcane devices. Small quantities of the metal are sometimes used as cores within powerful magical engines, enchanted beacons, or artifacts that require a constant and reliable source of energy. However, actinium is notoriously dangerous to handle, as prolonged exposure to its invisible emanations can weaken the body and disrupt magical balance. For this reason its study is usually restricted to experienced artificers, mage guilds, and well protected research laboratories. Though extremely rare, actinium is regarded as one of the most powerful naturally occurring sources of enduring arcane energy known to scholars.
