Lines and Veils

Lines and Veils are safety tools used in tabletop roleplaying games to establish clear boundaries around game content. Lines represent hard limits, topics that will not appear in the game at all. Veils represent softer limits, topics that may exist in the world but are handled off screen or referenced indirectly rather than described in detail.

These tools allow players to communicate boundaries related to sensitive subjects such as violence, trauma, or sexual themes. By establishing these expectations early, everyone at the table can feel more comfortable, respected, and confident that the game is a safe and enjoyable space.

Having this understanding up front helps ensure that you are at the right table for the game being run. In some cases, it may guide adjustments to the story so it better suits the group. In others, it simply helps set expectations so there are no surprises. The goal at my table is mutual respect and a shared storytelling experience that everyone can enjoy.

Attached is a form I would like you to complete. This information is intended to inform me as the GM and to provide a foundation for discussion during Session Zero, so that everyone begins the campaign on the same page.

Please take a moment to fill out the form.
