Following the kidnapping of 1,000 kids who had shown capabilities to become Sorcerers by Graile - The Dales had called the banners and went to war with their neighbors once again.   The War ended when Graile casted a spell so powerful that the whole of Dale just turned into beasts with no easy cure by the Divine or the Arcane.

The war was long and the Kingdom of Arasil, torn between two wars (The other one is The Celtiran war with demons and devils on their borders had helped the Dales and sent them arms - but only to prolong the war;   Eventually, when the Dales were able to conduct many assassinations upon the sorcerers of Graile, the Grailish had devised a ritual that all of the people of the Dales into various beasts.
