Nighthold
Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Nighthold is the divine realm of Ella'li.
Nighthold resides on the edges of Shadowfell. The realm reflects the enigmatic and dark aspects of its mistress, Ella'li, and serves as both a sanctuary for her loyal servants and a crucible of shadow and despair.
Inhabitants
The inhabitants of Nighthold are as warped and unsettling as the realm itself. Chief among them are the shadow-fey, once noble and graceful beings now distorted by Ella'li’s dark essence, who serve as her agents of secrecy and vengeance. Lariko, a cunning and deceitful fey lord, claims dominion over parts of Nighthold, thriving amidst the chaos and manipulating weaker creatures to carry out his schemes. Twisted beasts, malformed and infused with shadow, roam the land as relentless hunters and guardians and are generally served by rats, dire rats, otyughs, quasits, and monstrous spiders.Geography
Nighthold is a vast and ever-changing domain of shadow, situated deep within the Shadowfell. Cloaked in perpetual twilight, its jagged obsidian spires rise from the cracked, onyx-colored ground, while rivers of liquid shadow cut through the land, often flowing upward into the dark, starless sky in defiance of natural order. The realm is haunted by shadowstorms—violent, churning winds that carry whispers echoing the vengeful will of Ella'li.
Borders
The borders of Nighthold are marked by the Lightline, a glowing perimeter of shimmering enchantments crafted by ancient powers to contain its chaotic darkness and prevent it from spreading further across the Shadowfell. At the heart of this dark and oppressive land stands the Traitor's Throne, an immense seat of jagged obsidian that radiates shadowy power. Legends say that only one chosen by Ella'li or deemed worthy by the shadows may sit upon it and claim dominion over Nighthold, though all who have tried have been devoured by their own shadows.
