Gust Tunnels

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Gust Tunnels is a system works by embedding tubes with conduits infused by air, earth, and fire elementals. Air provides propulsion and control, earth strengthens the tube's structure (though it used for precious cargo), and fire elementals generate bursts of energy to keep it operational. These tubes could span many miles, but are usually much shorter, acting as rapid travel networks for or goods - though people is seldomly used as it is deemed 'dangerous' method.
Description
Polished brass tubes with shimmering runic carvings snaking through cities and across landscapes. Elemental nodes, glowing faintly in different hues (blue for air, red for fire, green for earth), hum with magical energy at regular intervals. Passengers or cargo are loaded into smooth, enclosed capsules that are either propelled by controlled bursts of wind or by "surfing" waves of compressed air. The system emits a faint, harmonious hum as it operates.

Utility

  • Travel
Within cities, allowing rich people (and endearing) to move from district to district.
  • Specialized Applications
Transporting goods, merchandise, mail and sometimes, specialized secrets for clandestine organizations.

Manufacturing

The Process itself is a secret, however few scholars are saying this technology, are using Binding of Elementals by agreement or by force. Unstable air elementals could disrupt the flow, while mischievous fire elementals might "overheat" the system.

Social Impact

Gnomes view their Gust Tunnels as their crowning achievement, a testament to their cleverness and mastery of magic-mechanical fusion.
Discovery
This system is unique to Slikmuluss and rare outside their territories.
