Ghoul

Hunger. The thing the defines ghouls the most is their hunger. I've seen ghouls eat dirt; we've disected ghouls and found clay fragments in their stomachs; we had a ghoul devour an entire family and stopped it halfway while eating their horse. It is a gruesome fate.

Ghouls are a type of undead necrophages that spontaneously rise from unburied corpses. Powerful ghouls are known as Ghasts. Due to the variety of consequences that may lead to their reanimation, ghouls are usually classified into subtypes by both adventurers and scholars.

Genetics and Reproduction

Ghouls are primarily created through spontaneous reanimation, though many are created through spawns; living humanoids that contract Ghoul Fever and succumb to it rise as ghouls themselves at midnight. Ghasts are created from powerful individuals who succumb to ghoul fever; such individuals however, if reanimated spontaneously, rise as ghouls, but more commonly as other forms of undead.

Paralysis

A ghoul's bite or claw can also paralyze a victim temproraily, up to half a minute. Though this a short period, it is often more than enough for a ghoul to kill its victim. Elves are immune to this effect.
