Eyriebound

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
We are not tamed. We are not trained. We are remembered. We are owed. Let them look skyward before the end, and know their reckoning comes on wings of memory.
— Alanthera, Matriach of the Eyriebound
The Eyriebound are a fierce and elite order of Great Hawks, noble beings of immense wingspan, sharp intellect, and deeper memory. They are said to have watched over the forests and highlands since the ancient stirrings of the world. Haughty, long-lived, and powerful, they are not pets nor mounts but ancient allies bound by ancient pacts.   Their alliance is not granted lightly. Centuries may pass before a mortal nation or hero earns their favor, and those who break an oath with the Eyriebound rarely live to tell the tale. However, when they are stirred to action, they are devastating forces of the skies, capable of disrupting entire battalions, tearing war engines to ruin, and vanishing upon high winds before retaliation can be mustered. In rare times, full flocks descend upon battlefield flanks, breaking sieges or harrying retreating foes, which is often interpreted as divine omens of The Seldarine.
