Naming Traditions
Family names
An Agyer noble’s name and a clan’s name are both derived from the family name of the clan’s noble family. A noble’s first name is that of their clan, and their second name is that of their family. Higher status nobles often do not change their name, while kings use only their family name as a mononym.
Culture
Shared customary codes and values
Agyer society is comprised of layers of clans, which are comprised of layers of families. Nobles are the heads of clans, and a noble’s nuclear family is also considered as nobles. When a noble becomes a noble, they must also declare their inheritor, which has to be from another nuclear family. Thus, nobility confers no privileges other than executice power within their clan; large powerful clans have a mansion that serves as the noble family’s residence.
