Hubki Shack

The Halfling Hole

The Hubki shack is the typical "quick and easy" building which Halflings  dwell in, much like our equivalent of a tent. From the outside, it appears like a small circular hut with walls of long, thin twigs and thicker branches. The roof is composed of either pine branches or large deciduous leaves, depending on where and in what kind of biome and environment the Hubki Shack is being made in. The interior of a typical Hubki Shack contains only the essentials, including a bedroll, hanging racks, water skins or canteens, and perhaps even a small fire stove. The usual use for a Hubki Shack is quick lodging for its Halfling creator. Because Halflings are a wandering vagabond race except on Cygnar, they sometimes can't find a proper place to stay in the savage wild, so they learned to make quick lodging: The Hubki Shack.

Purpose / Function

The Hubki Shack is typically used to house up to two Halfling per shack, usually just overnight. This is so that they can have shelter during a long journey, without having to enter towns and cities and pay for lodging.

Architecture

To support the heavy ceiling of either pine branches or deciduous leaves, Halflings would bring a small handsaw to cut down a young tree. They would then use the trunk of that tree to provide a base for the hut and a central support beam to stop the structure from caving in on itself.

History

The Hubki Shack was first developed after The Seven Giant Spider Queens invaded and decimated Lorkay. To survive without a home, the primarily Halfling inhabitants of the past Lorkay had to learn to make quick lodging. This was where the Hubki Shack was born: in the tears of many Halfling children as they watched their homes burn, in the eyes of many more Halflings that mourned the loss of not only a home but also a nation.
