The League of Hands

Structure

The League of Hands is headed by the First Hand of the League, also simply called the First Hand. The First Hand is a council of five senior members of the League of Hands, each chosen by their respective predecessors. Beneath the First Hand of the League is the Right Hand of the League, consisting of five members who serve as assistants to the First Hand, each chosen by a member of the First Hand. The First Hand of the League and the Right Hand of the League make up the head of the world-wide oraganization structure, often refered to as the Leading Hands of the League, or simply the Leading Hands.   Below the Leading Hands are the various administrative roles which oversee the day-to-day operations of the League, including but not limited to finacial and resource management, public relations, and member services.   Each branch of the League of Hands is lead by a similar structure to the Leading Hands, known as The Extended Hands of the League. The Extended Hands consist of a First Hand and a Right Hand for each regional branch of the League. The modern League consists of the Head Quarters located in Midpoint, on the continent of Terra, and one branch each in Allta, Andere, Contrila, the Courrent Isles, and Silva.   Non-administrative members of the League fall into a ranked hierarchy of apprentice, journeyman, and master. Newcomers are known as apprentices and are assigned to a master, who serves as both a leader and teacher. A journeyman ranks above an apprentice but remains under the authority of their master, but is typically granted a greater degree of discression and responsability. Typically a master will asign a journeyman to serve as an intermediary between a master and their apprentices to help mange the larger number of members.   A journeyman may recommend promotion of an apprentice to the rank of journeyman to their master, but the master ultimately decides when an apprentice is promoted to the rank of journeyman. An apprentice must demonstrate competence in a majority of the Leages five Schools before being considered for promotion, and typically must also demonstrate qualities their ranking jorneyman or master also deem necesary. Once a member reaches the rank of journeyman, they must serve for a minimum of four years before being considered for promotion to the rank of master. The rank of master also requires to approval of three current masters.

Culture

The League of Hands promotes cooperation, the preservation of the past, and the improvement of society for the future.

Public Agenda

The public agenda of the League of Hands is divided across five Schools.

School of Arms

The School of Arms prioritizes the teaching of martial arts, promoting a dogma of self defense and the defense of others. In the often hostile and dangerous wilderness, the ability to defend oneself and their allies is essential.

School of Maps

The School of Maps seeks to explore every corner of Midrealm and beyond, recording what they learn of the realms for the benefit of all. The School of Maps teaches survival against the environment and how to navigate in new frontiers (and how to amp those frontiers, of course).

School of Scrolls

The School of Scrolls seeks to uncover and preserve the past, to help guide progress towards the future. Much of what the School of Scrolls learns helps the School of Minds to develop new ideas.

School of Minds

The School of Minds seeks to discover what's yet to be figured out; it's the Leage of Hands research and development division and seeks to further the fields of alchemy, engineering, and magic.

School of Instruments

The School of Instruments promotes the creation of new goods to improve society, as well as teaching and encouraging the progress of crafting trades and the arts. The School of Instruments practically applies what the School of Minds has discovered.
