The Crypt of Ancestors
It was there that I beheld the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Soft curls kissed her pale forehead, while her long, dark lashes seemed to flutter in the harsh light of our candles. Oh! How my heart breaks when I think of those delicate, desiccated lips speaking fetid Words of Power. How can I not weep, knowing that her life was so brutally ended - her Power bled from her veins - by that detestable scavenger and His minions? In 42SGC, cartographers were recording the lay of the land around lake Aelis when they stumbled upon the entrance to what they assumed to be an abandoned silver mine. Inside, the team discovered a subterranean crypt (subsequently named 'the Crypt of Ancestors') containing the mummified and skeletal remains of 436 individuals. Archaeologists and scholars would later conclude that the area had once been part of a town called Lakerq, and that the crypt had been excavated benath the holy thédrale. Examinations of the bodies have revealed them to be victims of the the Great Confiscation. According to historical records held in the royal archives in the Lormontai capital of Cazilhac, when the traumatised townsfolk of Lakerq abandoned their homes after that horrific event, they had burned the entire settlement to the ground.
Although they had been victims of horrific brutality, their skin showed little sign of it. The clothes that they wore were not simply clean: they were immaculate. Their bodies had been positioned carefully; their eyes were closed, as if in sleep. No single individual could have achieved this. It would have taken an entire community to prepare these individuals for their entombment. No. No, I dare to believe that this is the work of several communities, united in horror and grief, for their numbers are simply stagering.

Thank you so much! I hope to revisit this article in the future, and hopefully find a way of getting it into my novels, too!
