Ivory Tower
A giant tower in the middle of Beholder Canyon was constructed from the bones of a Molduga sand whale. A magical structure created as a magnum opus by the Arch-Witch Helvatikka Pascal, a member of the Pascal Foundation. As part of her family's tradition, Helvatikka went on a journey to push her illusion and conjuration magic to new levels and incorporated her passion for the study of magical beasts, animals, and monsters. The result of her journey is the creation of a tower made from animal bones where each level is magically controlled to produce realistic holograms of exotic beasts and animals that could only be found off-world Jana. The Tower soon became a popular location where people come over to the canyon it stands inside of to challenge the monsters inside for the sake of a prize sponsored by the Pascal Witch who created it.
Each floor has been designed with a mix of magic and technology to project next to realistic magical illusions of ferocious beasts and monsters for people to fight when they take the Ivory Tower challenge. The tower is resistant to damage and is capable of regenerating its interiors after a fight to return its condition back to normal. The holograms are not only realistic, but they are also capable of adapting to the flow of combat to make it unpredictable and dynamic to the point where it has its own artificial intelligence powered by magic. These holograms are based on Helvatikka's research in illusory magic where she and her staff are able to control their sense of realism. The monsters in the tower can be physical to the touch and capable of dealing psychic damage mimicking physical damage without causing injuries to vitals organs. Due to its realism, exotic setup, and mysterious creation the Ivory Tower has become a major attraction for tourists and arena enthusiasts.
Prizes come in several forms: monetary prizes sponsored by the Pascal Foundation, acquiring access to rare magical knowledge, to even gaining favor from Helvatikka Pascal if the challengers were able to achieve victory on the hardest difficulty.
For those who wish to take on the challenge at the Ivory Tower, there is an admission fee for offering spiritual energy at one of the on-site Pascal Clinics that specialize in harvesting magic for Anima crystals. Challengers would be given a special package where after donating their energy they have access to the camp lodgings and food, rest up for the night, and take on the challenge the following day which their fights will be broadcast live across Jana - particularly Albard as it is a favored pastime among the rich and intelligentsia.
