Scenario: La'lasme Tomb in The Many Dreams of Ca'eam | World Anvil

Scenario: La'lasme Tomb

This is a narrative scenario for use in roleplay, be it in your tabletop campaigns, with a roleplay partner, or in your head!
The tomb is as silent as the souls laid to rest within it— or so you hope. If the rumors you heard at the local tavern are to believed, the dead have come back to life— and travelling through these stygian passages will be a harrowing task. But you'll try, nonetheless. Somewhere within that great web of stone and darkness, lies something of great importance to you...
A Family Heriloom: a necklace held by one of your forebears, buried now with your grandmother. Tales told to you since childhood speak of its enchanted emerald, which protects the wearer from all manner of illness. Your ailing father, now bedridden, is depending on your safe return.   Unfathomable Riches: according to some, the tomb hides a great vault even deeper beneath the earth. It is said the late king La'lasme hid much of the kingdom's wealth here to protect it from the great war, but died before he could divulge its location. You have obtained a clue.   A Holy Relic: the silver skull of king La'lasme is said to lie within the tomb, despite his body never having been recovered. Finding it would be nothing short of a miracle, and may legitimize your church. The Followers of La'lasme would no longer be considered heretics!
Whatever awaits you within the tomb, you expect your skills to be put to the test. But, this is of little concern, after all— you are a well experienced...
Soldier: trained in the art of war. Should you find yourself in a fight, you will have little trouble defending yourself. You are equipped with cotton armor, a twisted iron helmet, a bronze spear, and a knife.   Explorer: quite accustomed to traversing ancient structures such as this. Navigation and survival are your specialties. You are equipped with 50ft of rope, an everflame torch, a map, and a sharpened shovel.   Witch: rigorously practiced in the arcane art of bloodweaving— which allows you to create soft threads from your own blood to knot into weapons, barriers, and tools. You are equipped with enough blood to weave up to four times.
There can be no more waiting— now, you begin your descent into the tomb's waiting maw. It eagerly swallows you whole, the great stone doors slide shut behind you— causing the whole structure to shudder as if it were waking from a long slumber. The lamp fastened to your hip swings for a moment, as if something were attempting to snuff out the everflame within. Somewhere below, you can hear a strange sound...
The Turning of Gears: as if the whole of this place were some great machine. You know not what they may be, but you are certain that whatever they are— the traps are set.   An Undead Horde: the chittering and creaking of old bones brought back to life, armed and ready to defend their final resting place from whoever has intruded upon it.   A Wailing Spirit: the haunting cries of a tortured ghost, angered at your disturbance. Could this be La'lasme's very soul, or is it some other unfortunate spectre?
With the door shut behind you, there is only one way forward— how will you proceed?

Author's Notes

I'd recommend playing this as a simple TTRPG! Get a friend, choose a narrator, and play out the situation! If you'd like, you can also add in dice of your choice to determine unknowns!
