Kraal Sym

The Kraal Sym is found near the Golden Mountain, deep in the Golden Caves and surrounding forests. The Kraal Sym, while looking much like a 12 legged gigantic spider with 3 stingers, is a rather peaceful creature. Much like a spider, the Kraal Sym creates a silk-like substance that is used in its cocoons and dens, used to mark their territory. This substance, known as Kraal silk, glows in the darkness.

Basic Information

Anatomy

A large, spider-like beast with 12 eyes, abdomen, and thorax connected to its large, bulbous head. It's 12 legs protrude from its abdomen with 3 sections, easily being the topmost part of the beast. Its stingers are held inside the thorax, only released when hunting or excreating the Kraal silk.

Ecology and Habitats

They prefer to live in caves systems of little alcoves, with lots of minerals and stone nearby.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Kraal Sym feed on raw Sym in the mountains. While they can eat other minerals and rocks, Sym is their favorite and is what causes their silk to glow. They eat once a week, gathering their food in their dens during the week and eating once it has all been gathered.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

The Kraal's face is very similar to a spider's, with the 12 eyes split evenly on either side of the face, all glowing a faint golden color. The thin layer of fur covering the entire body, including the face, is splotchy grey and black.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

While their eyesight is dim, working only in darkness and only in the deepest caves, their hearing more than makes up for it. They, like bats, utilize echolocation to survive, emitting high pitched screeches just above what a human can hear.
