Genasi

Genasi are the sister species to Nymphs. Where Nymphs are the physical effect of a spirit lingering too long in an area, Genasi are the product of a spirit interacting with a living creature and leaving an effect. Now, as generations have passed, they have evolved past the need of a spirits intervention, but their origin still remains.
Out of all Nature Kind, Genasi are the bridge between nature and the modern world.

Biology

Unlike Spirits or Nymphs, Genasi have an actual, birthed physical form that is interconnected with their home element. In that sense, there is little that separates them from creatures like clay golems or constructs beyond their intelligence. Still, when looked at closely, genasi are 100 percent living, sapient creatures.

Anatomy

As with other Elementally based creatures, there is a wide variety of forms they can take. As such, when talking about the big picture, only wide commonalities can and should be documented.
Genasi are all, typically, humanoid in construction. 2 arms, 2, legs, a torso, head, yada yada yada. All of them are built of a mix of flesh and elemental matter.

Earth

Earth Genasi have chunks of rock and stone along their joints and muscles, their bodies are typiclaly sturdier, stockier. Their biomatter is a nutricious wonder, allowing moss and flowers to feed off of it in a symbiotic relationship.

Fire

Fire genasi can have flames litterally burning them alive without pain, leaving behind chared patches of charcoal and lava cracking through the skin. Their hair flickers and changes, usually staying short like a campfire and producing the same amount of heat.

Water

Water Genasi seep water with each step, leaking from every pore. they usually have a clammy feel to them, with longer limbs and a slick form to allow for better swimming. their hair clumps like seaweed and stays that way no matter how much it's brushed.

Air

air genasi have an almost weightless feel to them on occasion. they are the smallest on average, being tall but incredibly thin. their hair can have a cloud-like texture, all whipsy and light. Most of their bones are hollow like a birds.

Pallet wise, genasi tend towards the natural colors of their elements, making good camoflague for their area and origin. You can usually spot a foreign elemental with ease.

Unstable Babies

At their youngest, fresh from the womb, is when they are the most unstable in their bodies. young Genasi are wild with all the power of an adult and none of the control. the danger posed is unique to each sub group, but there is no denying the danger.
Usually, when a family is expecting, they either warn the community or they leave to go somewhere reletivly secluded to raise the child until they have some semblance of controle and the parents have a handle on the exact struggles they'll have to worry about.
this stage lasts from ages 0-2.

Terrific Twos

As a child grows into a toddler, they loose a magority of the raw power they have as babies, making them much more manageable. almost all their overwhelming elemental characteristics regress till the body is able to withstand it, turnign the child into a typical toddler. toddlers are much easier to handle than toddlers that can set the room on fire, so parents and communities call this time the "terrific twos'"
this period lasts for one year.

Childhood

Durring Childhood, the body changed a lot on the ouside, growing from a tiny person to fully grown over a series of 16 years. This is also hen a genasi's mind is the most flexible and able to retain information. most morals, beliefs, and internal structures are formed durring this time.

Adolecence

At 18 years of age, a Genasi enters their version of puberty. at this point, the body stops growing in size and begine changing hormonally and magically. all the power from tehri baby years returns and there is a learning process. By this time, general education is done so there are various finishing schools that specialize in Genasi development and magical control which last various lengths depending on need and prefrence.
Adolecence is considered ages 18-20.

Adult

By age 20, a Genasi is finally considered a fully grown and developed adult with all their matured abilities, changes, and mental clarity. If healthy, a fully grown adult should live 90-100 years.

Elderly

around 80 years of age, a genasi will begin to feel the effects of time. not only will their bodies begine to slowly errode, they will begine to regress back to their younger state of wild, natural magic. without their bodies as a sustaining feild, any magic thye had will begin lashing out unpredicatbly until it eventually peters out and thye are left dwindeled. once this proces has happened, a genasi will life at max another 5 years, though few make it that long.

Yearly

Not unsurpringly, Men and women has different biological clocks from each other, both of which need their own acomedations and changes.

Men

Yearly, Male Genasi will expirience something called the "TBD". Like the human females mentral cycle, furring this time the man replenishes their ability to fertilize children. Unfortuneately, this time lasts a full week and is relativly unpleasant for the guy. They expirience pain, cold flashes, loss of feeling in the abdomen and legs, and even unrational panic for the entire durration.

Women

Female Genasi were spared the Human curse for the most part. They too expirience their own mentral cycle once a year, where their bodies readjust to the idea of possible children this year. Women become agressive, possesive, and very cuddly towards those they care about. there is some paine, but it is easily dismissable through stretching and excersizes.

Now, people with deep emotional bonds are known to sync up their periods, especially men and women in romanic relationships. If a man and women spend their cycle together, this triggers the womans body that a baby could be possible durirng the next year and prepares for it. Its like their bodies attune to each other making reproduction for that year only possible between the pair of them until it is reset.

Reproduction

That leads directly into how Genasi Reproduce. They are sextual beings, which is about all I'll say on that matter. Once impregnated, the fetus is carried in the woman's womb for a full year.
the birth comes exactly a year later and, unless there are problems, is relatively easy and painless. there is a form of labor which manifests as a decline in the bodies inherent natural responses leaving the mother weaker for that it can eject the baby easier. this lasts for 3 days aver the birth of the child.

Average Physique

genasi as a whole tend to be sturdier than the average. they have a higher magical and physical tolerance and can withstand intense phenomena better than most humanoids.

Average Intelligence

Genasi fall on the average line for sapient intelligence. When tested in schools they perform well for problem solving and in-moment thinking, where as their patiens and large scale thought performed low in comparison.

Birth Rates

Due to their reproductive nature, Accidental births are extremely uncommon. on average, a genasi family is 2-3 children 4-6 years apart for development purposes. According tot he last Census in 1450 arranged by Ealdorian research, Genasi reproduction rates are at a healthy, biologically stable rate.

Death Rates

According to the latest Ealdorian census, Genasi are dying as a normal rate in comparison to their expected age, communities, and birth rates. There diesn't appear to be any concerning data points that would signal a targeting or intentionality in the ration of natural verse unnatural deaths.

Geographic Distrobution

Due to their diverity and adaptability, Genasi can be found all over Pangella and the southern islands. There are trends that apply to specific genasi subgroups, like fire genasi stick to the west and warmer areas whereas Earth genasi tend to live in forested, tempret areas. Even then, like humans, a genasi can find a way to live pretty much anywhere given enough determination.

Naming Traditions

Genasi are not a history/ heritage based race, that is to say, there isn't a large amount of strictly Genasi customs and traditions. As such, they choose names based on the cultures they were raised and live in, rather than old racial names like Austral or Chinook. Still, there are some.
In any situation, Genasi tend to choose names that have a strong connection to nature, usually the stuff in their enviroment.

Women

Womens names tend to be multipul syllables with a lot of vowels to work with. like gaelic, the more impronouncable the name, the more women tend to choose it.

Neutral names are the easiest. They tend to be monosylabic and representational of some actual thing with emptional significance to either the person or the persons family.

Genasi have a very open view when it comes to Gender Identity. there are the classic ones, Women, Men, Gender Neutral, and the like. They have more complex terms for gender and their different roles in culture.
In general, there seems ot be a scale when looking at the basic societal and familial roles.

Man (he/him)

The Men are the ones who cannot carry a child, but fertalize the egg after they've been activated. They are responsible for protecting the family, utilizing their natural anxiety and need to be working as a protective measure. They are usually larger, yet more emotionally aware than half-boys and neutrals.
To be designated a man, thye must be in an active relationship with a woman and have spent their cycles together making them capable of reproduction.

Half-Boy (he/they)

This is where most masc presenting genasi fall. These are the ones who assist with protection of communities and intellectual development. they make great teachers and guidence counselors. depending on their biology, half-boys have the ability to be a man if they share a cycle with their romantic partner.

Neutral (they/them)

Those who don't take on a role are the peace-keepers, negotiators, and travelors. Usually, its the ones who don't enter a family or are the middle or youngest child.

Half-Girl (she/They)

They are assistants to women both in the family and out of it. they are work well as money keepers, buisness partners, and magical teachers. They typically present femme, and, depending on their biology, have the capcity to transition to a woman if they spend their cycle with a romantic partner.

Transitioning

It is possible to transiton between most roles without any internal social stigma. Men can trasition to half-boys, neutrals, and even half-girls, but they can't go all the way to a women without medical or magical interference. This is because gender is often equitable to what they provide in a family and a man, by definition, can't birth a child naturally. The same works vise versa. Those that start in the middle 3 can't go to either a full man or full woman without having their abilities.

Woman (she/her)

Women are the child-bearers and house hold masters. They get very protective and focused, much like any other mother. after a birth, the women are usually smaller and depend on their male counterparts, but soon become equitable to the man.
Women are designated that way only once they are able to reproduce with their romantic partner.

Interaction with host culture

Now, most of this takes effect inside a family unit or a mostly genasi community. with their easy-going nature, genasi will adapt and change according to the cultures they are in, including, to a point, gender identity.
