This is an introduction to Forgotten Skies, an epic Diesel Pulp Roleplaying Game set in an alternate universe combining traditional RPG mechanics with a Tactical Tabletop Combat system. This project has been in development on and off since 2008 by Robyn Pacetti and has been through several iterations. You will find in this document the information you need to understand the Forgotten Skies universe and help you decide if you want to know more about this project, maybe play it or just ignore it.
CHARACTER
In Forgotten Skies, your character is part of the crew of a freelance flying ship that is traveling the known and unknown parts of the world on a wide variety of adventures. There are different roles and types of characters you can play aboard this ship. You will find more information about the different options as well as some archetypes in subsequent annexes.
CREW
The crew of the ship is here to handle the day to day operations of the ship. Since this is a freelance ship, the crew is reduced to a minimum (think skeleton crew). Hopefully, as the adventure progresses, you will be able to obtain what is missing to make it a fully operational ship with all stations fully manned.
FLYING SHIP
All the characters are on board a flying ship that is operated with different types of energies, such as bearing crystals, steam, and diesel engines. Transportation between the ship and landmasses are done through heli-shuttles. There are two different heli-shuttles on the ship, a light one and a cargo one for larger freight. The ship also has several launch pods allowing planes to take off and get back to the ship. Every player has the possibility to pilot one of the planes on board the ship.
CAMPAIGN
In this campaign, you are part of a Freelance Flying Ship crew hired to find a missing cargo ship lost in the New World. This Cargo ship was supposed to arrive days ago at Confinium, an important Trading Station in the New World. The trade routes around Confinium can be dangerous in this neutral area. There are still major factions or even pirates trying to control Confinium and its surroundings.
