Prompt 5 - Antagonists

Who, or what, is your BBEG (Big, Bad Evil Guy) ?

It's time to put some conflict into your regions, or to at least start thinking about conflict potentials. The question above is simple. Your answer, though, may be much more complex. The first thing you'll need to do is establish a point of reference for yourself. The identity of the "evil enemy" is quite likely to depend on who it is you're asking!

BBEG is a term that should be familiar to most, but just in case... the BBEG is the main antagonist or the Root Source of Conflict in your world (or region, in the case of Synergasia). The most important thing to remember about "BBEG" is that it doesn't have to be a "guy"... it doesn't have to be a person... or a group of people... it could be almost anything as long as it's the biggest, baddest, most feared "thing" to the main viewpoint culture of your region.

• Do you have a primary nemesis in mind for your region? Is it a single person? A rival tribe or community? A cult? A corporation? Another country?
• Is your BBEG an inanimate concept? We could, for example, consider Global Warming to be the greatest threat to our real world. And while you may be tempted to blame this evil on individuals or nations, the fact is that at some point (and we may already be there), the threat sort of takes on a life of its own and needs to be dealt with accordingly.
• Is the BBEG currently acting against your point of reference person/family/society right now? Or is it lurking in the shadows?
• How has the presence of (or even the existence of) your BBEG affected your focus / point of reference culture?

Submission Guidelines

1. Make sure you're pointing to the Synergasia world when you create your article.
2. The Suggested templates above are just that - suggestions. If you really think a different template is more appropriate, then use it. If you have a customized template that you want to use, then use it.
3. In the event that your new article introduces something that changes something in your region's Canon article, please highlight this somehow. (A note in the footnotes will be sufficient!)

Suggested Template(s)

Which template to use depends entirely on the nature of your BBEG entity. If it's a person, then the Person template is the one to use? If it's an organization, or a religious cult, or even a whole country, then the Organization template is better. If it's some inanimate phenomena, the Natural Law template may be the best one. If it's a volcano next to your city, then either Location, or Building (which includes "Landmark") may be best. Ultimately, you'll have to decide for yourself which template to use on this one!

The Rules

The only rule in Synergasia is that your worldbuilding is restricted to your area unless you are actively collaborating with a neighbor. If you are collaborating, let us know and we'll make an entry in the Canon articles to notate it.

Other than that, your region is your world. Go for it!

There are no prizes... no judging. An article with 300 words is probably the low end of "enough to be useful", and more than 1500-2000 becomes a "wall of text" that will frighten people off. But there are no hard restrictions on minimum or maximum word count.

We will review your article and will, from time to time, extract certain facts to be included in your region's "Canon" article. These articles will be guides for you in the future, and for anyone you wish to collaborate with. ("Canon" will include things like capital cities... names of rivers, settlements, deities... major past or present events... wars... conquests... You get the idea.)
