Magic In Aquillanis

WAYS OF MAGIC

Magic is in the very fabric of Aquillanis, from the grains of sand to the leaves of trees to the blood in creatures. This is called world magic and it began when the gods crafted Aquillanis. Those who use this magic do so in a variety of ways. However, the casting of the four most powerful tiers of spells, called the Legendue, requires the cooperation of more than one magic caster.

FAITH

Those who devote themselves to their chosen god are rewarded with the ability to cast magic as long as they stay true to their god's teachings. These are clerics, paladins, and monks.   Some devote themselves to those who aren't gods but lesser immortal beings who serve the gods. These are called warlocks.

BLOOD

Some peoples are born with an ability to use magic. This ability must be nurtured and trained to be used. Those who are born with the ability are called sorcerors. These are the Aquill and Fyrians. Fyrians sorcerors are more limited in their ability, only able to learn spells of earth and fire.   A very few are born with an abundance of world magic within them and the ability to use it. Their magic is fickle and dangerous, often resulting in chaotic or calamitous effects. These are called the wildborn, and can be found in every race and sentient creature.

LEARNED

The study of magic casting takes many forms.   The Phoenexi along with the Pandions have established academies within their cities for the training of wizards.   The Pinephel, are a silent race but they teach from master to apprentice the art of somatic spells and the casting through items of magical foci. They are called adepts.   The Harpiina have colleges for the singing of magic. These singers are called bards.   The Isurus, the Dauphi and the Numis all learn to manipulate and bond with nature. These spell casters are called druids.

LENGENDUE

The first tier of Legendue spells require two magic casters to cast with one magic caster giving the other some magic while the other guides the casting of the spell.   The second tier of Legendue spells require three magic casters to cast with two magic casters giving the third some magic while the third guides the casting of the spell.   The third tier of Legendue spells require four magic casters to cast with two magic casters giving the other two some magic while the they guide the casting of the spell together.   The fourth tier of Legendue spells require five magic casters to cast with three magic casters giving the other two some magic while they guide the casting of the spell together.   The casting of a legendue spell with fewer casters than required can be done with one of the casters involved dying, one for each caster short of those needed for the tier. Who dies is unpredictable and is inevitable.
