Genre

Aquillanis is a fantasy realm of shallow seas, undersea volcanic vents, deep trenches, islands, narrow coast land, and a great volcanic island. Kingdoms reign in all these regions above and below the waves, with the islands. Magic is wielded above and below the water and the forging of iron and steel is a mastery of the land folk.

Mood

Turbulent. Just as the tides wax and wane, so do the relations among the realms of Aquillanis.

Theme

There will always be that daring good soul who will inspire their fellows to stand up against the evils that strive to keep Aquillanis red from the clashes of war.

Technology

This is a region firmly in the Iron Age with the beginnings of carbide steel upon land. This is called crucible steel and its for the making of weapons. Providing the carbon for a sword are the bones of one's ancestors and it is believed the souls from those bones guide the hand of the descendant who wields it.
There is also the wielding of magics and the powers of those who believe in the gods and have their faith rewarded.

Major Conflicts

The greatest conflict is rarely seen but always present as the fire giants of the volcano are always trying to leave it while the sea elves have devoted themselves to keeping them there. Every few centuries, this conflict turns into a battle that scorches the sea and drowns the land until the giants are once again driven back into the volcano ... until the next time.
In between these times, the alliance of kingdoms often shifts and changes as someone is always lusting for greater power no matter the cost. Intrigues and conspiracies abound, waxing and waning like the tides.
