Morley-Wright's Organization in Space | World Anvil

Morley-Wright's

The Morley-Wright family are renowned for their ties in the Spacewright and Trading industries. However, they are more renowned for their historical feud in the early days of Space Travel. Currently, Richard Morley-Wright is the head of the family who married, Betella Morley-Wright 47 years ago (2225). A marriage that ended the feud in a romantic union of the Morleys and the Wrights.

History

The Feud

In 2085, the Wright family owned one of the first Spacewright company the Vesta Ships. Vesta Ships specialised in manufacturing Cargo Spacecraft. In 2095, the Morleys founded the Morley Shipping Company who bought many Vesta Ships in those days. The relationship between the families were purely business and beneficial for both sides. This was until the Wrights began to use their own ships to start-up a Trading company themselves.   There were many other trading competitors in the early 2100s. This was the time of the Six of Space who drove humanities expansion into space. So there was money in shipping cargo from Earth to Luna, Mars and other Astronomical Objects in the Solar System. However it was since the creation of the Vesta Trade brand, that trouble had begun.

Vesta Explodes!

At 0830 today, there was an explosion at the Vesta Spacedock. It is still unclear what caused the explosion, however rumours are being spread that this was a terrorist attack on the company. Many speculate that the Morleys had something to do with this, especially as the Morleys have a reputation of being rough and dirty towards their competitors. However, they deny all claims of their involvement with this incident and any speculation based on their so-called "mafiosa behaviour" will be met with a lawsuit on Slander.

In 2106 an explosion occured in the Vesta-owned Spacedock that orbited Earth. It was considered as a terrorist attack, though no evidence was discovered to find the culprit. However, it was rumoured and eventually suspected by the public that it was the Morleys who done it; who denied any involvement.   This incident was not the only one, as later on in the year one of the Morley Shipping vessels also spontaneously combusted. More indicents followed, as sabbotage between the Morleys and the Wrights became the norm. It was this series of sabbotage and intrigue that lead to the 1920's-like era as other companies soughtout each other in an era of space mafia and piracy.

The Union

In 2225, Richard and Betella found love when they met at the Grand Final of SOME_TOURNAMENT. As the story goes, they did not realise who they truly were until they fell in love. However, this romeo and juliet romance did not end in tragedy when Richard's father passed away, inheriting him the title as the Head of the Morley family. Then to end the century-long feud, the two married and to further express the union they double-barrelled their family names to Morley-Wright.

Vesta

Founded by the Wright family, Vesta was originally known as Vesta Ships when this was the family's only business. After successfully selling over 1,000 cargo Spacecraft, manufactured via their Spacedock, the brand Vesta was adopted when the Wrights expanded into the Space-Trading industry. They built the ships, and had then begun to use them for themselves.   In 2225, the Vesta brand was then taken over by Betella Wright who in the same year married Richard Morley to form the union between the two families after a bloody century-long feud. To this day, Vesta is still owned by Betella, though there are speculations that it Richard who calls the shots. However, at least there are fewer incidents of sabbotage between the two sides of the family.
