Earth Station One

Orbiting Earth at 10,000 miles from the Earth's atmosphere, the Earth Station One is the Nations of Earth Alliance (NEA) space station that houses over 1 million people.

Design

The station is a cylinder of 5 rings, all of which rotate independently to generate the gravity effect needed so residents experience an Earth-like gravity of 1g. Renovations are being constructed, which are designed to use Gravity Generators across the station. These designs will enable more 'layers' or decks, to each ring.

Infrastructure

The 5 rings are connected via a central section, known as the Core. The angle of the station matches the meridian of Earth, as it orbits along the equator. The bottom of the station is where the major dockyards are, which enables large spacecraft to dock. At the top is a newly upgraded section where the station's administration and official government facilities are held. These upgrade were Gravity Generators, making this section Earth's first section of a station to have a Gravity generator.

Industry & Trade

Earth is the cradle of Humanity, and for centuries it has provided everyone with nourishment. It is no different today as mega-tonnes of food is exported from the planet. There are other resources that Earth exports and Earth Station One is the centre of the trade when distributing goods across the Solar System. Every 15 minutes a ship is either docking, or leaving the station.   Much of Earth Station One's trade is mostly in finance, administration and entertainment/tourism. Earth Station One also has a busy passenger service with hundreds of thousands of commuters making their way onto the planet, or out into the vast openness of space.

Food

The station itself produces some goods, particularly it does grow its own food. In every ring are sections that hold Climatised Hydroponic Farming Pods that can grow a wide range of vegetables, such as Lettuce, Tomatoes and Onions. However, there are no systems in place to support the growth of trees. In fact, nobody has been able to successfully cultivate trees on space stations.

Entertainment

Every ring has a centre of entertainment, these are often referred to as Nightlife Districts. Clubs, Bars and Restaurants are a common sight in these places. The name Nightlife is rather ambiguous as these districts are packed 24 hours a day.

Sports

There are also multiple sports venues on the space station. Not every sport has been able to be played in Earth Station One. However, small Gravity Generators are being installed in many venues so possibilities are opening.   In the 3rd Ring, known as the Centre Ring of Earth Station One is the Something_Something Arena. This sports complex has held many events tournaments for sports such as; Boxing, MMA fights and, interestingly, Tennis.
