Wolf Species in Solivity | World Anvil

Wolf

Legend
There are many animals in Solivity, one of the most common are wolves. They live in all climates of the land but can mainly be found in Tal-Rena. All the different breeds of wolf can be found in Tal-Rena, from the snowy white wolves of the Desolate Lands and beyond to the brown wolves found in the forests of Mandeek. There is a reason for this and that is because Tal-Rena is the home of the Academy. They have a special bond to the Academy and killing a wolf in these lands is punishable by death, they do not attack humans and humans do not attack them in Tal-Rena; other parts of the world are… different.

Wolves once used to be much different, they were smaller slender beasts but the adverse effects of Qi and radiation from the Aeon War over the generations has evolved them into larger hunched beasts. They had to grow larger due to how other animals changed, new game arose with the evolution of Qi, larger new creatures not seen before. Thus, in order to live they had to be able to take down and defend against extremely large animals.

Wolf Breeds

Snowy Wolf

These wolves are easily identified by their snowy white fur; they live in the snowy regions of the Desolate Lands as well as farther North. These wolves tend to be very energetic due to need to keep their body temperature warm in the cold, when fur fails; as well as curious. In turn they will bond themselves to more rash, energetic people.

Black Wolf

These wolves can be found within the Burana Swamps, Dara Ramant and in some parts of the Brightwoods. The personality of these wolves represents the fur colour, dark. They don't play as pups as other dogs would they live to hunt, that as they see it is their only purpose. They will usually bond with solitary, serious people.

Brown Wolf

These wolves can sometimes have flecks of green in their fur. They are the most common of the wolves and can be found in the forests if most parts of the world. They are a loyal breed; they work better with a group rather than alone. Once they find a pack they would stand by that pack until they died. The same goes for the people they bond. They would die for their friends and hate to be alone; loyalty is the highest priority to them.

Beige Wolf

These wolves, who’s fur resembles sand, live within the desert. They are shy, shyer than the common wolf, they like to hide and wait. If a situation demands for them to fight, they would prefer to do it on their terms from the security if their hiding places. They tend to bond those who are shy and slight in build, as it would aid in concealing in the underbrush.

Blue Wolf

These wolves are a pale midnight blue, they sleep during the day within their dens in the mountains, found abundantly in the Northern Pass. They are primarily nocturnal and tend to sleep all day and take things at a slower pace. The humans the bind to prefer night like them, they would rather travel and fight by the light of the moon.

Wolves and Men

All canines have a unique ability to bond with men, this has always been the way. They develop an extremely strong and loyal relationships with each other. Before the Aeon war they were referred to as "man's best friend". Wolves however, have a special variation of this, awakened by Qi. They can develop a magical bond to a person, this bond allows them to convey emotions and senses. The combined makes a man and his wolf a formidable foe, a man with the ability to sense people like a wolf could, as well as a wolf that can understand who to attack. Mostly it creates a relationship between two stronger than father and son, mother and daughter, brother and sister. The two essentially, become one.   Everyone who passes the initial test to enter the Academy must go through the first ritual. Once you’re ready to bond to a wolf, you will know. It’s a feeling inside you that you can’t suppress. Your pack will all get this feeling around a similar time, but if you are late at feeling it don’t worry, it will happen. Once you get this feeling, you need to tell and instructor, they will then take you down to the Academy’s crypts. Once inside you need to venture down into the center of the maze like corridors. At the same time, a young wolf pup with a similar feeling will also be sent in by their trainer. This feeling you had is beyond ordinary magic, it’s not something that’s reproducible. The Quean of both you and the wolf pup have already started to bond and mix but not enough to fully bond you. You are lost, two halves not yet whole. That is where the crypt comes in. The crypt is extremely dark, and designed to be confusing. Once both of you are good and lost in the crypt you’ll be able to sense each other. The darkness and quite dampens your senses, making you more focused. The fact that you’re lost encourages your mind to find a way out. All of this, combined with your new faint mental compass will guide both of you together. Completing your bond. You will now have a bond with something stronger than anyone could have with another person. You two will feel each other on a spiritual level, and will have a mental collection that will let you communicate. The two will grow and train together, they will form a pack the way all do at the academy, a pack will be made of a person and their wolf from each colour in the academy. A total of 10 form these packs, human and wolves together.   Wolves do get a form of training in the Academy. While the humans train combat, the combat instructors wolf teaches the young pups how to be wolves, they learn to hunt and fight, and eventually they will be taught how to fight with their human.
