Aakraman Karma Organization in Secret Agent Someone | World Anvil

Aakraman Karma

This organization is infamous in circles but they remain quite hidden from the outside world. They leave a known mark in the code wherever they attack, but authorities and even individual companies have not been successful in tracking them down. They have been well established for many years, growing larger and acquiring more and more followers.   The business thrives off the community. They prey on poor neighborhoods that need money to pay rent, buy necessities, and survive. They look for families especially who are desparate to provide for their children and put food on the table. They encourage these parents to enroll their kids in an "educational program" that is very lucrative when, in all actuality, the children and parents are not seeing even 25% of what is being made. Aakraman Karma pays peanuts in exchange for long hours, hard work, and a horrible reputation.   When a certain hacker is found out, be it their fault or not, Aakraman Karma will completely dissassosiate themselves from the person and put all the blame on them. Then, in an "unfortunate turn of events", they will most likely meet their demise to cover their tracks and to get eyes off them and onto the "single bad actor" for legal purposes and reprecussions, then, they are ended so that they cannot oust Aakraman Karma and tell the truth, leading to further investigations and compromisation of the company as a whole.   The band is a very elite, underground group. If you are thought to leak any information about Aakraman Karma, your life is on the line.   They are located in India but a lot of their victims are not certain about this fact. They do leave behind their famous Karmic symbol, which is indicative of India, but no one wants to assume where the hackers are actually based because they have received IP hosting addresses and leads from every continent on earth, including Antarctica.

Culture

The organization is very hostile on all fronts. They are intimidating to all who encounter them. They are controllingly haunting to their employees, most of which are children, who work for little to nothing in horrid conditions "for the good of the company", to repay debts, to "earn a decent wage", or other manipulative reasons.

Public Agenda

Outwardly facing to the public, they do not present themselves at all. They are fully undercover without even the need for any fronts. They run operations from all over the world, though their main base is in India.   To the locals, they are known as somewhat of a crime brotherhood, but it is a sad truth to admit when you are desparate enough to feel the need for their "help". Parents have given up children to the organization on empty promises and were later told they would not be getting their kids back because of something they did or failed to do, or because the child was not able to pass all tests, or something of that nature. This angered some parents, but getting the authorities involved was futile. It often resulted in even more loss or heartache for the rest of the family.   Many people were given false hope that their children were still alive and they may be able to see them again if they did not inform the authorities or take any legal actions. A lot of this went on for years with no fulfilment.

Assets

Aakraman Karma has acquired all their equipment through illegal means. Whether stolen directly, or purchased from the dark web with laundered funds, they have slowly built up their empire and workforce. The people at the top make the most money, though they aren't even the best or most experienced hackers. The company's greatest assets are their underpaid employees, but they will never let them know that. They continue to demean their team and not even inform them of exactly how much money they are making as a company.

History

The roots of Aakraman Karma are not fully known, but it is speculated they started with a group of friends who prank called people to con them out of their credit card information. Years later, they recruited more and more people until their company was too large to keep track of.
