  • Backstory

    Observations

  • Tatiana is the rival protagonist, showing the different path that Astra’s character could take. She shows the calculating, driven face of the Grand Society. She is also a bit of a mystery.
  • Other dimensional beings don’t really notice Li’ich’s network because it is is weak compared to others.
  • History

Tatiana has been at Motherhouse for 18 years. During that time, she’s built a network, figured out how to create new versions of the replicas, and created her own special connector. The connector is not hooked into her brain. It, like the replicas and the Holy Relic, works by proximity, with stronger connections by physical touch.   Tatiana figured this out because she’s a natural host. But her rage, which erupts whenever Li’ich (or anyone) tries to control her, prevents Li’ich from taking her over. During the brief joinings, Tatiana learned enough about Li’ich to figure out its network connection and how to tap into it. The network is a dimensionally based network.

    Motivations

Tatiana wants to regain her rightful place and to identify and destroy the enemy which ruined her family. And she wants to live forever young.   She is trying to break free of Li’ich and societal restraints. She resents that she has been denied being her true self, simply because she’s a woman.   Tatiana is motivated by rage, tradition, and nonaLivy culture. Her goals are: One, find and destroy the nonaLivy enemy. Two, become the power behind the council for the nonaLivy branch (i.e, utilize and run the nonaLivy business/family fortune). And if not, use her skills and abilities to create her own nonaLivy-style family business. Three, utilize her newfound resources (from her device and Li’ich) to live forever — basically, become an energy vampire. (Founding her own family business would be tricky because of the non-compete mentality of the Livy house and Sancus.)   Tatiana has the ambition, drive, and ability that thrives in the Livy house, especially the nonaLivy, IF one is male. Being female has limited her severely. And she only became more aware of this during her years on Callisia with Edwin where she saw women in positions of power and authority.   Tatiana appears to be controlled by many different forces — Li’ich, the Order, the nonaLivy, Edwin, Marik, etc. But in all these things she has kept to the path and her plans, acting as expected but arranging things for her eventual assumption of power and control.

    Family Background

Tatiana’s rage started when her older brothers and their children (who were her peers age-wise) were killed during one of the disasters. During the disaster, her father became injured and eventually died. He treated her as his favorite, and her rage grew even greater when he died. Antone married her off, which contributed. Marik was able to give her an alternate goal of political control over Callis, but the entire Li’ich/Motherhouse experience changed her.

    Relationships

    With Li’ich & the Devices

Tatiana is working on a new device. One that can use the replicas to leech energy, but tamps it down enough so that she is not burned out. This way she will not need to wait until a Li’ich-other feeds.   Li’ich is an extremely useful tool and a somewhat dangerous bother. If Astra destroyed its main presence in the human dimension, Tatiana would not mind as long as she could leech energy somehow.   Tatiana doesn’t know that if Li’ich is entirely removed from the human dimension, the replicas would be useless. Unknown: whether she would need the replicas or if her new device can allow her to feed directly.   The only way to completely remove Li’ich is to destroy the device on the Holy Relic and then destroy all homed others. Or alternatively destroy Li’ich completely by destroying the Holy Relic, Li’ich-origin, and Li’ich anchor while all Li’ich-others are homed.

    With Astra and Vance

Tatiana views her children as tools to accomplish her ends. Perhaps before her introduction to Li’ich energy absorption, she might have viewed her offspring as something more — people to whom she could impart her legacy. But with dreams of eternal life, she has dispensed with the idea of immortality via descendants.   To Tatiana, her children are tools. Before she discovered Li’ich, she planned to use them to establish herself on Callis. That was her agreement with Marik. After she discovered Li’ich, they weren’t valuable tools — until she learned that Antone adopted them. Astra is useful to create children, if Vance can be persuaded to adopt them. Vance is useful to keep the family business going.   She needs the family business because her plans require a lot of wealth. Plus, she’s a nonaLivy.   Tatiana does not know that Antone put a great deal of the family wealth elsewhere. On the other hand, she doesn’t realize just how wealthy the family “should” be since women are not given much information about that. She has learned some due to her coding tasks. But even then, Antone was careful. (He was hiding things from Sancus so it wasn’t difficult to hide those from Tatiana and Marik.)
