Balancer
The Balancer is a globally recognised title for the divine champion of Shathol. It seems to grant a specific level of power to the individual that holds the title.
Description
The Balancer is the formal title that is bestowed upon the divine champion of Shathol. Regardless of the political and moral standings of the nation, many respect and fear the bearer of the name, as they are the champion chosen by the deity who sealed the others away from the material plane. Each Balancer known to history physically changed after receiving the title, their hair became longer and a golden blonde. Meanwhile, their skin turned to a glittering gold, and their eyes became a pure white. These physical changes seem to leave the figure as their power is transferred to the next Balancer.History
The title of Balancer was created within the Age of Creation to denote the chosen champion of Shathol. During the Age of Creation several people were known to hold the title and several artefacts were constructed to act as the divining conduit for Shathol's power. During the divine war that became known as The Shatter, Shathol took a stance of neutrality, as such The Balancer became a protector for many people. They became one of the most powerful and respected people in Nonvyrox, for some cultures becoming a deific like figure. It is known that one of the Balancers, Jal Hradeem, defended the people of Sovmora in 743 SH, protecting much of the city from the Divine conflict between Disaki and Tyril, unfortunately the cost of this defense was their life. Before the Parting, in the final years of The Shatter, The Balancer Mythra Holdran is believed to have been the creator of the Tynau, the divine gate that trapped the physical presence of The Shattered Pantheon from returning to the material plane. The combination of Divine and Arcane magic formed an unsealable bond that also caused a large blast in the central crossing between the Salnoque Ocean and the Galberg Depths. It is believed that this caused a planar tear in this location in the depths of the Holdran Ravine. Since The Parting, generally divine champions have been unable to retain the power that they once achieved through the works of the gods. The Balancer is an exception to this rule, gaining a boon directly from Shathol due to the unnatural nature of the god's physical presence. As a result, the title of Balancer is respected and feared among the masses, for the knowledge that they are powerful but also for the respect gained by many of the known holders of the title throughout the history. As of 743 AR, the title of Balancer is currently held by Eldrin Treeclove, who has held the title for over a century.Abilities
There are several known abilities granted by the divine form of Shathol to their champion.- Resistance to necrotic and radiant damage.
