The Fall of the Calaran Empire
After the Northern Uprisings, the Calaran Empire having lost its footholds in both Arcadia and the North, the Empire began to collapse as war and secession destroyed it from within, poverty and despair turning the populace against one another. With the loss of the North during the Uprisings, the Empire had lost countless thousands and a large work force that could mine the many iron deposits. Without a way to rebuild aside from the iron mines in the Principate Ranges, the Empire had to leave the refugees to suffer in concentration camps and the veterans without pay for their services. People were growing restless as the Empire chose to ignore them, attempting to rebuild what remained of their Imperial majesty. However the loss of Arcadia and the death of the Magia royal family would prove to be the death of the Empire. The sole surviving princess of Magia, living in exile in Oriavan was petitioning the Solarite to restore her crown and aid in the rebuild of Magia. Initially promising his aid, he later went back on his deal and attempted to defame the young princess. This backfired as the princess rallied the people to her side and marched on the capital, burning the palace and prompting the military to assert martial law. The capital was thrown into turmoil and in the chaos of civil war, the Solarite died and Imperial Family killed itself overnight. With the Empire without a leader and its capital locked in a people's revolt, it ceased to exist and Calar was divided among the various counts, Arcadia and the other island states leaving to form new nations, ruled by criminals or merchants.
