Seek a new dawn, in Malkora!

Librarian's Collection | Cabinet of Curiosities 2024

Don't mind the dust — it's been a long time since I've cleaned up for a visitor. Who knew a hectic move-in would drum up so much dust?
— Professor Duarte
After spending some time wondering what items I might create for the Cabinet of Curiosities challenge, and which corners of Malkora I might set my sights on to scrounge for them, I stopped to consider... what if I chose one little spot to house all of my curiosities? Looking back to my primer, I had the bright idea of setting up this challenge to revolve around none other than the very library new readers find themselves in as they are introduced to the world!   Professor Tenilon, as former royal educator and advisor, surely had some trinkets and relics laying around his dusty library for us to find, and bringing some of them to you is my objective for this challenge!

Cracked Urn
Ancient Souls
An urn unlike anything you've seen in modern Arsavela, with beautiful faded designs across its ceramic surface. Though its style is so different from common urns today, you recognize it for what it is — and hope that the giant crack in it isn't an ill omen.
White Stone Eye
Weirdly Sentient
A white stone eye, clearly broken from a much larger sculpture. The material seems to match that of some of Aurel's city ruins that are now off-limits to all residents. The eye doesn't follow you like a cursed painting or anything, but you still get a strange feeling that it's watching you.
Black Glass Sculpture
Dancing Light
A small sculpture crafted from volcanic glass, molded into a mix of organic and geometric forms — a craft practiced in Bolkan. Its semi-transparent form reflects light in curious ways, painting patterns which dance in the candle light upon the walls of the library.
Ink-Stained Map of Malkora
Sticky Situation
A map of illustrious quality featuring the full span of Malkora's landmasses — or, it did once. Half of the map lies ruined, completely obscured by a still-drying pool of exquisite brown ink. Inky paw prints offer a hint as to what caused this destruction.
Incomplete Savelan History Tome
Working Knowledge
You find a small tome — a history book, in the making. An incomplete history tome found in the library of Tenilon B. Duarte, former royal advisor and educator in the Kingdom of Arsavela. Many blank pages remain, stuffed with notes and drawings.
Bird Skeleton
Swift Departed
A bird skeleton, posed in a very life-like manner, perched atop the curio shelf. In your limited ornithological knowledge, you remark that it looks like the birds you see fluttering around the local farms, but something about it seems a little bit different.
