World under revision! This world was originally written purely as a Dugeons and DragonsĀ® setting. It is (slowly) being rewritten to be system agnostic When things don't seem to work togewther, this is likely why.

Eclipse

Goddess of the End

Everything must come to an end. This is nothing to be afraid of, it's simply the way things are. When her moon, Nyxe, orbits Ailion, souls can move on and what no longer has a place is swept to make room for something new. It's the palest of the three moons and its dim light seems to create longer shadows. Her domains include death, but also the end of suffering. Perhaps most ironically, the Waning Moon both looks to the events that are yet to pass, but also remembers the things that are now gone. When the future can become reality, is when the task moves to Origin, when things have passed are when she takes over from Essence.

History

However the gods managed to seal away the Abyss during the Dawn War, most agree that Eclipse put the final brick in that wall. The work of the Moirai repeats endlessly, but everything started by Origin) is completed by the Pale Light. Wars have ended and empires fallen under her auspice.

Worship

Many funerals and graveyards are dedicated to her, especially in cultures more wary of the Nightwarden. Her shrines are places to remember what is no more or to seek support as an end approaches. Her clerics provide hospice care more than they do attempts to actually heal. But they also help soothe the minds of those in mourning or who struggle to accept fate.

A place of worship to the Waning Moon is often decorated with things that have an obvious end, such as burning candles or imagery of blood. Eclipse herself is usually portrayed as an older woman in a ragged cloak, carrying an hourglass or a scythe. Some cultures give her a mask to symbolise the unknown beyond death. She's also associated with birds that eat carrion, thus literally carrying the dead away.
