Archfey
The Archfey are the creatures who rule the Feywild. They are able to manipulate the very fabric of that plane in the area they control, to some extent. They can even reach past that by empowering others, making them warlocks. The stronger the archfey, the larger area they control. The strongest of them might even have minor archfey acting as vassals for them.
There are many different kinds of Fey, and all of them could theoretically reach the level of an Archfey, but it is extremely rare. Some archfey are created from the land itself and thus bound do it. Some represents the merging of several spirits. The origins vary greatly, and most of the time there are at least two competing legends.
Duties
While fey are naturally capricious, it is technically the duty of an archfey to look after those living on their lands. This isn't always done in a very predictable way, but since punishments can be equally odd, most consider it a bad idea to risk drawing attention by doing something the local lord would disapprove of.
