D'Leon Cakes

by Donla Pheinkuk
Named after the famed socialite Mantilene D’Leon – grand niece of Liber's First Governor, Mantimus D’Leon – D’Leon cakes are known for their rich, brightly colored frosting. Specific recipes can vary, but the sponge cake is sweetened with honey and fruit syrup, and the frosting made from powdered sugar and creamed butter. D’Leon Cakes can be made for all sorts of festive occasions, and are a truly celebratory dessert for the people of Liber. This particular recipe is based on one my mother made for us growing up to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays, with a few of my own personal tweaks.   – Excerpt from A Traveler’s Guide to Sobukand by Donla Pheinkuk   For a full recipe on how to make these for yourself, follow this link to the Feast In Thyme article
