The fire egg

Entry 1

Following a few months of hard work to make my own sanctuary, after leaving my master's side, I finally caught a rumour of a possible unhatched dragon egg in the area. I took barely any time to gather some resources and left my sanctuary to find it. The rumour says that the egg's father, with his last breaths, caused a volcanic eruption and the egg was seen floating in a river of lava, safely away from the Mecharch soldiers that were trying to steal it.

Entry 2

Destiny is a curious thing. After a couple of days of search, I meet a mecharch deserter. She didn't seemed to care about the dragons that her previous employee were destroying, but explained that she deserted nor long after finishing her training because of how badly the mecharch treeated the kingdom's people. I merely said I was a traveler and she didn't question it twice.

Entry 3

Not long after leaving the deserter, I found a spring nest with a broken egg. Poor thing didn't even got to meet the world before dying. I didn't take long to bury it, but I took quite some time to leave a prayer to the unborn dragon.

Entry 4

While in a town, I found a mechant selling an inactive dowsing crystal as a merely (and cheaper) healing crystal, so I bought it in an instant. Hopefully, it will bring me to unhatched dragon eggs I can save in the future.

Entry 5

While wandering around, I recognized a dragon screeching for help and quickly ran in the direction of it. I found a young winter dragon trapped under an old inacive mining machine. The gorgeous icey blue dragon had his body's left half under dthe machine, which probably fell over him while he was walking by due to its parts being oxidized by age.

The young dragons initially was aggressive, I don't blame him, so while I inspected the maching from afar, I spoke softly to him, explaining I was there to help him; showed him my dowsing crystal while explained I was in search of an egg to help it survive; and even gave him a bit of food when I started trying to move the machine. It didn't take long for him to trust me and moving the machine became much easier when he stopped moving.

I hanged my rope hook from an elevated place and attached it to the machine. It was heavy, but luckily I didn't had to raise the machine too much before the youngling managed to skirm its way out. The dragon brought me to his small nest and allowed me to take 1 (ONE!) item from his tresure pile. I didn't say it aloud but he looked very cute all so proud on top his small tresure pile. I took a small coin that wasn't too shiny; I didn't want it as treasure, but as a memento of the first time I managed to help a dragon all on my own.

My master would be proud...

Entry 6

A few days after helping htat winter dragon, a big powerful spore storm appeared. I had to run to a cave to be protected from it, and I was forced to leave behind some of my rations on my rush, but the important part is that I'm safe. The storm lasted a few days, but the worse part was that it had changed landmakrs I was previously using to navigate. The old giant tree seemed to be no more, and the smoke from the nearby village wasn't there either. Took me a good part of the day to write down on my area's notes a couple new things that could be used as landmarks to navigate the forest.

Entry 7

Stumbled across an old broken agricultural machine that was starting to be overgrown by nature. In its curent state, its impossible to fix it, and while inspecting it, I found a couple of small animal's nests. I grabbed a couple of components that were in good state (carefully to not destroy any nest) and left the machine behind.

Entry 8

I reached what seemed a big rock at first sight, but my dowser crystal started shining and decided to take a better look at it. The rock was warm and made of solified lava, which fitted the rumours of the egg I was searching, so I carefully, as if my life depended on it, started excavating in the rock, and BINGO! A warm, very lively, summer egg was in the middle of the rock! I quickly put the egg on the incubator I had been carrying and started my journey back to my sanctuary.

Entry Sanctuary

My master always said thtat raising your first dragon is the most stressful, but I always dismissed it as an exageration. Until I got this egg. I know the sanctuary is prepared for dragons and eggs, and I know incubators work mostly on their own, so I shouldn't stress to much, but I couldn't stop checking in the egg every few hours. But it made me so happy to see the little dragon hatch! I named her Eria, from the old word "Eri" meaning "warmth". Raising her wasn't less stressful, but it also was a lot of fun. She quickly grew up to be an energetic shiny young dragon and I loved to see her start her own tresure pile out of rocks.

I understand that she eventually will leave me to go make her own lair and family, and when that happens, I'll be extremely proud and happy, but I hope I can get to see her from time to time.
