Aliuma (al-e-u-ma)

A skin condition unique to the draconin. Caused under the circumstances that would result in twins in other races, but draconin are incapable of having twins. Instead, the child is born with two-tone skin. In particular, the main color of the gender which they are born, (males being red, gold, green, or copper and females being siver, blue, or midnight black) and a secondary color of the oposite gender, most commonly covering their more armored scales on their fronts. One such example is the Pillar Warrior, Ravan Iailtak. A male with a gold primary pigmentation, but black scales under his chin, and on his chest. Those who "suffer" from this condition are hardly suffering. If anything, it is a beneficial condition, as it is viewed as more attractive than monotone scales.

Causes

Draconin do not have twins. This condition is caused under the circumstances that would cause twins in other races. Instead of two fetuses within the mother, it is one with a very unique skin tone, to be discovered at birth.

Symptoms

When born, it becomes revealed that the child has the primary color that of their gender, but has patches of scales colored that of the oposite gender. A male with this condition could have a primary color of green, but have patches of blue, most comonly under the chin, and on the chest, where the scales are most protective. While the pattern is purely random, there is a sort of organization to said pattern. Any males with the condition still have the anatomy of a male, the male fire breath, and male habits, the only change is the coloration of the scales. Likewise, any females with the condition, such as a silver draconin girl with gold patches still has the anatomy of a female, the female's ice breath, and female habits. The only change is cosmetic.

Treatment

There is no way to treat the condition, and no reason to, as the changes are only cosmetic, and are viewed as attractive to most.

Prognosis

As the seasons change, the pattern may shift, and change. While the colors will remain the same, the way they are spread, or the form of the pattern may change with the seasons.

Affected Groups

It is most common in female draconin, though it is mostly even split between the two.

Prevention

There is no way to prevent the condition, or to even know if the child is effeted by it until they are born.

Epidemiology

If either the father, or the mother has the condition, it is more likely that the child will have it as well. If the father is effected with the condition, and has blue patterns on his scales, and the mother is silver, it is possible that their daughter is blue. Likewise, if the mother has the condition giving her red patterns, and the father is green, it is possible for their son to be a red draconin.

History

The first recorded case was on the Old World, one of the first draconin children born unto the first draconin families. One of the former leaders of the pillar Warriors had the condition His name was Ravan Iailtek, born a gold male, with a black pigmentation on the armored scales of his chest. He led the Pillar Warriors in a resistance against the Children of the Eternals during the Years of Chaos. Another example is Etaria Haedros, born a silver, with streaks of gold running from her shins, to the top of her head.

Cultural Reception

Any child born with this rejoiced, as many who are born with this condition have done great deeds, or have allowed others to do great deeds. The condition' and the form that it gives to draconin is viewed as attractive. THe only thing more attractive to a draconin is ascendence.
